I see your point sprout. More than anything I think I worry that being on SNRI's long term is bad for my health but thats just an unsubstantiated fear. I have a few side effects I don't like. It's hard to know if it's helping me or not but I'd lean towards it properly is, a bit.

I'm terrified of coming off psychiatric drugs on a whim, they're nasty to titrate up on and worse to come down off. It has to be done slowly, gradually and under medical supervision.

It's a bit extreme to just stop them straight off and chuck them - bad idea.



My main "baby" is lamotragine (fantastic for me). Recently I've added duloxetine (SNRI) and as well as dealing with the depression and anxiety its worked amazingly well on my pain symptoms - fibromyalgia and neuropathic.

I had a stomach bug for a week and throw nearly all my meds up and was hit by awful discontinuation syndrome. Thankfully I got back on to an even keel after 2 weeks... but boy those meds are bad shit leaving your system.

Luckily I'm prescribed codeine for the pain and thankfully the duloxetine had reduced my need for it, so I'm not constantly taking it daily getting a nice wee addiction but can take the odd lot when things get bad and enjoy a higher dose treat every few weeks with the rest...naughty but nice 8)
