I dont think they were exactly inundated with aplications :)

I applied for Senior Mod for the site - I was asked to submit a new application and explain what I could 'add' to the site :\ . Your asking me to submit a new application ? I'm 'Bearlove' - your a SMOD.

Wasn't Scotchy a SMOD at one point?

I doubt very much that I'd want a mod stick....for various reasons. :)
Yep i do believe he was. I would not want to be a mod either. I was once a mod at a well known cannabis website / forum that no longer exists. It was a hard job. Stopping flame wars and trolls was quite time consuming and it ended up detracting from my enjoyment and participation of the site. I prefer to be able to log on when i feel like it rather than having a duty to be present on a regular basis. I respect what the mods here do. I dont always agree with them but thats life. You cant keep everyone happy with every decision all of the time. I am curious to who they pick though.

No announcement on that as yet. I say give FUBAR a mod stick...he would find someway to use it as a sex toy

I've yet to encounter a staff member who doesn't use it as a sex toy. The classier ones wipe it down before thwacking folk with it but this is by no means guaranteed.

Couldn't possibly comment but would say that the more applications we receive the better.

I must admit that the mod application process probably got a little sidetracked with other matters we shall not get into here. Funnily enough I was meaning to bump the apps thread for any stragglers to pull their fingers out and make with the applications before deliberations begin.

He was which means that as of his stepping down EADD has no direct representation in the higher echelons of BL staff. Hopefully a situation that won't last too long cos we've pretty much always had somebody at Smod-level or above whilst I've been a member.

So what role does a SMOD actually have Sham?

Traditionally they were keepers of the Saff. But the Saff role is becoming increasingly rare these days, so cheese & ham is becoming the norm. Main duties include overseeing the FreshMods initiation ceremony, or 'Sod the Mod' as it is known. This involves wielding the Smodrod codpiece to sod the mod. They also get first pick of the comfy chairs in the lounge and have a limitless drugs expenses account. Actual work duties, other than buggering the fags, are non existent so they tend to relieve boredom by creating alt accounts and mercilessly trolling the site for their own amusement.

Pretty similar to modding one sub-forum, except you look over other parts of the forum as well - help with decision making on a higher level, hunt for alts, yadda yadda.

Edit - or what the serial masturbator said.

I think for me SMOD will always stand for Serial Masturbator On Drugs. That in itself should be its own unique mod category with FUBAR weilding the mod butt plug ..

So what role does a SMOD actually have Sham?

It's been a while since I had a smodstick but when they were foolish enough to give one to me years back the role mostly involved overseeing several forums. Middle management basically. Dealing with any interstaff issues for any of the forums you oversee, offering input and advice on any general issues arising from within said forums and such like.

The biggest responsibility probably comes from BL-wide matters though. Given there are so few smods (well there used to be very few - think they increased the numbers quite significantly a while back) discussion of all-BL issues - overall site policy matters - can be quite satisfying as you really do get a voice and can represent the views of your home fora.
