i was born into a blue afternoon until you spoke my name with a mouth as clean as diamonds and then everything was suddenly white. like it is now
with a cathedral sound in my ears like christmas or the sabbath. to begin unclean to wash away miracles or bleeding organs that part my insides
and make way for disaster of births and deaths and all of the ache that accompanies misery.

oh, but you with your pure arch and trembling, modest beauty to come to me like this and wipe the hate from my brow, kiss the burns from my fingers, and repair the limbs that were left to die. you, with a mouth as clean as diamonds, took my blue afternoons and made the trees sing and the sunlight singe and my body grew on.
