I finally will be getting to make a batch of GHB soon and..well i'm pretty excited. I'm using Chemgir'ls recipie of 120 ml GBL + 63 grams NaOH diluted into 990ml of water.
I have no clue how many mL you need to equal 1 gram as it didn't say on the site. Can someone help me out so I don't have to find out the hard way... THanks
 
i don't understand your question. i'm not really familiar with the reaction, but
why do you need to know an ml to gram conversion? if you're disolving the NaOH into the water, what does it matter? it kind of looks like ratio is right there for you.

it doesn't state how potent the 990mL mixture is.. Just need to know how many mL it takes to get a gram of GHB...

6) Measure the pH. ( I recomend using 3 indicator plastic pH strips, not pH paper)
If it is above 10 add vinagar to lower the pH. 7.5 is the correct pH for GHB but anything below 10 is ok. (If the pH is below
7.5, taste to see if it still has a GBL taste. to eliminate that taste, repeat steps 3-5 using a little more NaOH).

---No! If the pH is too high simply add more lactone. If it's too low add more NaOH. There's never any reason to use vinegar or lemon juice or no shit like that when cooking G. If the pH is too low that means there is unreacted lactone. React it with a little more NaOH. If the pH is too high, that means there is unreacted NaOH. react it with a little more lactone.
BY adjusting the pH with vinegar you are introducing an impurity to the mix. There's now reason for this.

--I would completely skip that step. Instead put you GHB solution in a pyrex bake dish and stick it in the oven (open door) on low heat until the liquid evaps. You'll be left with a waxy solid. It's very easy to weigh out grams and very accurate.
The waxy GHB salt is very hygroscopic, meaning it will absorb water from the atmosphere. If you let it sit out in a humid room, it will liquify in no time. Stick it all in a ziplock baggie and put it in the fridge.
You can even cap the "wax" up. I dont like the taste of G dissolved in anything.

Weighing the waxy stuff isn't accurate!
I once evaporated a solution of ghb and
it weighed about 100 grams when it was dry, well what I thought was dry. Then I added 200 ml to make a 1ml/0.5gram solution and guess what: when i had add the water the total volume wasn't 200ml, it was nearly 300!
The volume of water shoul'dn't increase when dissolving stuff in it, so my boiled down ghb had almost 100ml water in it, and it really felt like it was dry.
Th problem with ghb salt (and other hygroscopic substances) is that it can built in H2O molecules between it's + and - ions.
 
Thanks for all the opinions on this, i really appreciate it. That definatly makes sense to throw out the "add lemon juice" idea so i'll definatly take that in consideration.
But yeah. I was going to bake it down into a wax, but now i'm all confused again. just wnat to have a general idea of how much i'm taking, and i have no clue how to figure it out.
