GHB vs GBL

I have no tolerance at the moment to GHB/GBL, although I used to be an addict, but I have always needed huge doses to get off on either.

For some reason, GHB seems to be really uncertain in its action, I use it to help restless leg syndrome, which I get occasionally, but to me,it is nearly useless for recreation.

I need around 15-20g of Na-GHB for a good high, or 6ml of GHB, anyone else get the same effect? I find it nearly imfuckingpossible to get high on GHB, I love GBL, but even after converting a dose of GBL that WILL get me very high (6-8ml rectally), that same GHB will not get me high, or achieve barely threshold effects, anyone any idea why?
 
I have friends that say from extensive experience that NaGHB is much smooth and lasts long that GBL, and over all feels better. I find that GBL really messes with your potassium levels, to a lethel extent even, if used enough. And what i really dont like about it is those nasty leg twitches, and muscle twitches you get when it's going through the process of converting to GHB in the body.-

Side effects aside, it's a great drug. Those i'd take opiates and benzos over it most any day. That's just me.
 
I have only experienced the leg twitches once, and I found they went pretty fast after taking the GBL.

I have a lot of experience with both, and now, I won't take GHB unless it is offered for free, and even then, I feel bad about it, because it takes so much of it to affect me, I have real trouble even getting high of GHB, I know it isn't the batch I use, because I have gone through lots of seperate batches from different GBL sources.

I reckon the amount of GBL needed to cause metabolic acidosis must be pretty large/frequent, as I used to dose many times a day with large doses, until I found myself needing to taper down before I quit.

To me, GHB is almost impossible to actually get high off, no idea why.

Unless it's due to some endocrine effect that I've never seen reported, GBL will not change the level of potassium, or cause metabolic acidosis. Unlike Na-GHB, it isn't introducing any sodium ions to cause an imbalance in the Na/K ratio and it doesn't cause metabolic acidosis as the conversion of GBL to GHB in vivo uses a water molecule to effect the transformation; no 'left over' H+ ion to acidify the blood plasma.

Unless someone can link to a study showing that GBL adversly alters the endocrine system to produce a potassium imbalance or metabolic acidosis, I'm of the opinion that those two accusations about GBL are disinformation from the 'GHB is a totally different. much safer drug' crowd that has been successful in lodging itself in peoples brains.
 
Good GHB is much stronger then GBL in my experience...a few grams of good GHB should be a high dosage, atleast with the stuff i get...
 
Gods damnit, I had to use some GHB last night, to help with restless leg syndrome caused by lack of sleep.

I took 10g, a dose that not long ago, without tolerance, wouldn't have fazed me, I ended up puking in the toilet and passing out.

I have come to the conclusion: fuck GHB, tolerance seems to jump up and down and side to side for no apparent reason, so in future, I won't ever take more than 6g.

The GHB I use is in powder form, not as solution, and prepared by reflux of stoichiometric quantities of saturated NaOH solution and GBL, so it isn't the GHB itself that is the problem, other people have used the same stuff fine.
 
FB, im just telling people what happened to me for a fact. I would post the lab results if i still had it. It was directly related to GBL. I seriously doubt morphine or fentanyl did it.
 
If you're consuming more than one drug on a regular basis, you can't really say that any specific drug is responsible without detailed lab results w.r.t. how the different drugs have acted on your body. The main hormones that alter levels of potassium in blood plasma are the corticosteroids (cortisol, hydrocortisone etc). Other than that, the only other big factor would be consumption of either Na or K ions as they tend to be excreted in urine in a fixed ratio (large amounts of sodium result in potassium depletion due to removal of too much K ions in conjunction with the excess Na ions)

For every molecule of GBL consumed, your body expends a hydroxide ion (-OH) to turn it into GHB. With infrequent dosing, your body doesn’t have difficulty balancing –OH levels… But if you’re dosing regularly you’ll deplete these –OH levels, offsetting the PH balance in your body by making your blood more acidic. In turn your body flushes out calcium and vitamin D, which can cause pain in your joints and bones. The level of potassium in your blood (“serum potassium”) will drop, which is dangerous as potassium is needed for correct heart and nervous system functioning. This condition is known as metabolic acidosis, and if severe enough can be fatal. For this reason abusing GBL is a big no-no.
 
^ That is utter bollocks, hydrolysis of an ester requires both an OH- and an H+ ion ie a water molecule (which is neutral). No 'left over' H+ ions; none at all... (mentioned it before and it was said that it was going to be changed)

GBL abuse is way worse than GHB abuse. Not sure what the hell these moderators are smoking. But yes, GBL does cause a decrease in potassium levels, and GBL is a big no-no. NaGHB is much safer, and much less addicting and non-toxic compared to GBL.

Do you have any sources for that?

Not saying you are wrong, I'd just like to know. I've only just started using GBL and wouldn't mind finding out how much of a risk to my health it is. :)
 
Ive used GBL for over 3 years on and off.
Ive used up to 25mls a day for several days, and around 15mls a day for several weeks.
Ive never suffered any kind of withdrawal, Ive never felt any symptoms of acidosis, or any feeling of not being healthy.
If there are risks associated with potassium levels then they are VERY exaggerated.
 
What about the 1,4-butanediol, how does that compare to GBL? I never got any effect of GHB and the stuff tasted grim. I wouldn't consider going out of my way to aquire GHB. I know a guy who did 8g's in the space of about an hour and also claimed to not have any effect. This was the 'pharmaceutical' stuff as well from SA so as you can imagine the price on it was horrendously OTT.

No they don't, which is why a huge, unpleasant exchange occurred last time this subject came up.

Here we go again...

An equivalent weight dose of GBL enters the blood faster than GHB (as it's less polar and crosses membranes faster), but once it's in the blood, GBL is converted to GHB by plasma enzymes very quickly. Within 9-12 mins, 96%+ of a dose of GBL is converted to GHB. As far as the statement I've highlighted in the above quote - IT''S THE SAME DRUG, it's only the speed of onset that's different. If you want a comparison, the difference between the two is like the difference between nasal & IV methamphetamine. IV produces a faster rise in plasma levels, so is more addictive via that route, but in terms of toxicity etc it's the dose used that's the most important.

DjTaZZ: It's obvious that you have a personal dislike of GBL - that's fair enough peoples likes/dislikes vary, but don't start with all the unfounded bollocks like last time. Whatever we're smoking doesn't change the fact that GBL and GHB are essentially the same drug, it's only the pharmacokinetics that differ
