***EDIT: A moderator obviously added "anhedonia" to the thread name. I want to emphasize that in this thread I am NOT talking about the typical anhedonia: consummatory anhedonia is a very distinct phenomenon.***
Hey
I've been trying to figure out my over two-year long consummatory anhedonia (CA) which means inability to experience pleasure in the presence of pleasurable stimuli. I have tried pretty much all recreational substances and I haven't gotten euphoria from any: additionally, I get zero effects from opioids and very diminished effects from GABA-Bergics phenibut and GHB.
I recently found out that post-acute withdrawal syndrom (PAWS) from GABA-Bergic abuse might cause CA among other things. One person that I've been discussing with reported severe CA occurring after a couple of months had been passed since acute phenibut withdrawal. He said that the CA was so strong that he couldn't imagine an opioid producing any euphoria (he didn't try any though). This thread discusses similar phenomena: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/249518-GABAergic-withdrawal-resembling-D2-antagonism
The D2-antagonism analogue is not realistic at all IMO as DA has hardly anything to do with pleasure itself, it's only a mediator and more implicated in pleasure-seeking behavior (anticipatory anhedonia).
But I'm not here to discuss the mechanics of CA. I'm interested in whether more people have experienced CA as a result of GABA-Bergic withdrawal and most importantly, what substances have been helpful in countering it.
So what do you know about this thing?
