GHB overdoses in Sydney

After reading of the dangers of GHB on various web sites I don't think I'd ever touch the stuff - surely the dangers outweigh the benefits with this stuff (and the benefits don't sound all that great either...) Anyone have any first-hand repots on GHB? Wonder if those who OD'd had ever read anything about it.
Grevious Bodily Harm...that's enough to put me off.

OK, I'm not like TELLING you to take GHB. I don't believe anyone should encourage the use of a drug to someone else if they don't already want to try it.
BUT, it is hugely erroneous to label GHB as grievous bodily harm. If used correctly, and I mean REALLY correctly, the benefits are great.
Huxley, please search for a post called Liquid XTC on this page. GHB is NOT liquid ecstasy, as that post will explain, and will also give you a bit of background about it.
GHB bought on the street is extremely unsafe, because it comes "premixed". Like if you bought a gin and tonic off a street corner (not that you would, but you know what I mean) - you could have no idea how much gin was in it. Pretty crappy analogy, but you get the drift.
If purchased in powder form, you can control your own dosage. If used responsibly, GHB is actually one of the least toxic substances you could ever take. It occurs naturally in your body anyway, and metabolises to harmless carbon dioxide within about an hour.
GHB is personally my favourite drug, although sadly my supply of the powdered stuff has run out, so it's unlikely I'll ever take it again. I can't really describe the feeling. A lot of people say it's like being drunk, but it's not really. It's more like the euphoric feeling and heightened sense of touch that comes from E, mixed with the confidence that comes from drinking, with a sort of sluggishness and heaviness of limbs that comes with pot. It's a very, very clean feeling. Oh, and your mouth goes at a hundred miles an hour, like speed.
I really don't recommend anyone even think of trying it without researching it thoroughly. There ARE dangers if you act like an idiot, specially if you're dumb enough to mix it with even the tiniest bit of alcohol.
But please do not continue to call it grievous bodily harm. Just like anti-drug headlines call E "The Tablet of Death" or other hysterical, ignorant names, it really does not do anyone any good.

highly agreed with Pillcat. I read the smh news page about the ghb thing. It is not bodily harm or anything. It is not a bad overdose and it has no risks. If you just sleep for 3-4 hours your body will recover to normal without the slightest residue left over. As pillcat stated above it is something that naturally occurs in your body and the reason for the guys overdose was probably dosage. Dosage is really important in GBH cases. eg, if you take 30ml and if you had some caffein before(eg Coke or Red Bull or Coffee) it can effect you later opr may not effect you at all. And if you top up another 5 ml you can EASILY pass out. But it is not dangerous or harmful at all.

hey all,
been lurking for a while and following the happy valley death post...
and again, i agree with pillcat.
If people are gonna over do it, if people wanna push themnselves to the edge, then they better be ready to pay the price. I have no sympathy, and cant say i ever will for people who knowingly overdo it.
in the weekend i hjad the onfortunate experience (again

I dont fucking understand why...i tell all my people, how to use things, what to and not to do, and altho these people are my friends, why is it, at every party some -one has to over do some thing, and u know who they tell?....ME! The guy whop is itting at the happy, lovely perfect medium, having a nice nite, meeting nice people, not pushing things, not risking my dignity for a little more "munt"
Personally im sick of it, and did let rip a little last weekend.
To see a person relax to the point of "letting go" (is all ill say) makes me sick. Whats worse is being the fucking salvation army for these people.
NO MORE-i do more than my share, i dont go out to be the nurse for the deprssed or the over munted.
And if u use the excuse, its not my fault, i didnt know how strong it was, or, "he poured it for me", god help me...
im not gonna read the article, im sure ive seen the worst almost first hand. (not dead, but the humiliation they gotta live with...)
so to finish my ranting, i may be wrong, but i think i agree with the way pillcat veiws drugs...if u dont know shit, dont do it, easy peasey,
these are the assholes banning things for us, GHB is banned cos fuckers in NZ ODed on it, or combined it with alcohol....and again to these people is ay a big fuck you (non plur but im sick of idiots ruining things for the rest of us)

Hey - I agree with everything in this thread, and wasn't getting down on GHB or anything - more like the idiots who take stuff without knowing exatly what it is and safe dosages, etc. I've researched everything I've taken, and most of what I've heard about - I think we all agree it's the smart thing to do.
Acording to one web site I use (Erowid - http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/ghb/ghb_dose.shtml) - a high dosage can kill you, and even if it just puts you to sleep if you are taken to the hospital then they will treat it as an OD and do all sorts of nasty stuff...
Pillcat - I only used the reference to grievous bodily harm as from what I've read this is supposed to be common slang for GHB. I didn't say it out of ingnorant hysteria, but I'd still be happy to sit down with you at a party with a few grams of powder and be educated ;-)

as usual pillcat is pretty spot on with her summation.
whilst we all have had good experiences with GHB, we are all extremely respectful of it, and rightly so.
In my opinion it is not really the sort of drug that lends itself to a party atmosphere. High incremental dosage curve, inaccuracies in dosing, plus variations in individual dose levels, combined with it's dangerous interactions with alcohol, and tendency to put you to sleep, mean it is probably better left at home for comedown. If you act responsibly with it and take time to find out about it, it is IMHO the perfect way to get rid of those messy comedowns.
But like all drugs, you gotta take care and look out for your friends.

huxley - I reread my previous post, and I did sound like I was jumping down your throat! Didn't mean to - your initial attitude of "I've heard bad things about it, therefore I'm not touching it" is a FAR more sensible one than people who think "what the hell" and dive in head first. You sound like you have your shit together.
I'd love to have the opportunity to introduce you and many others to the HUGE benefits of GHB. I wouldn't do it at a party or club - as the little Sneaklet's story shows you, GHB is really best saved for when you're at home the next morning and can giggle and roll around on your bed with your mates without looking like a dickhead (it does make you go a bit gaga). Sadly, as I said, it's aaaaaall gone, and the supplier that we bought it off has stopped shipping to Aus. Ggggggrrrrrr!

Looks like there'll be no more deliveries from the States since they voted to make it a scheduled substance, basically illegal now from the look of it... can you believe that XTC was legal in the 70's - that would have been a good time, well with todays music anyway. Rolling on disco, hmmmm

haha its funny you mention 70's music, the very first time i rolled, i was in a ab on the way into the city i was rolling my ass off on a green mitzi and the cabby was playin 70's music and i remember sayin to my mates this is the best music i have ever heard! which earned me some very weird looks
