I've not used GHB for almost ten years but it was almost one of my favourite recreation drugs back then. Never had any problems with it, and it seemed like I for some reason could take considerably more than others.

Now I've been addicted to benzos for 7 years and am now taking 3 mg clonazepam daily. However my tolerance is much higher than that, I can take 15-20 mg clonazepam (30-40 0,5 mg pills) and just feel a little drowsy and sleepy but not much.

GHB and benzos would in most cases be a potentially dangerous and downright stupid combination, but I kind of miss GHB and I feel nothing of the 3 mg clonazepam I take, it has no other effect than keeping away withdrawal symptoms. I never drink so that I'm drunk but I can take 4-5 beers without any problem and the benzos don't seem to potentiate them. I once asked a psychiatrist how it is possible that I feel less effects from a few beers than before using benzos. He said it is fully possible my GABA receptors have been desensitized by the benzos, actually meaning I have a higher tolerance to alcohol due to the benzos. Does this sound plausible?

Anyway the question was mainly about GHB. What would you verdict be, taking into account that I do use benzos (but as I said, feel no effects from them and have a huge tolerance)? Would it be too risky? Or would it just make sense to start with a small dose of GHB and see how I feel?

I would say that GHB with benzo's is a pretty stupid idea. Your tolerance makes it somewhat safer but you still risk too much CNS Depression or blackouts meaning you could end up taking more.

If you insist on doing it no matter what do NOT drink at all. Because desensitised or not it is still a depressant, desensitised to the feelings of it or not that side effect remains.

I would start will smaller doses of both than you would usually take if you are really going to do it.

As Madog11 stated, mixing CNS depressants is very risky. I would not experiment with this combo TBH. Even though you have a tolerance to 20mg of Clonazepam, that does not mean that it negates the fact that your GABA A receptors are still flooded with it. Adding other depressants have a good chance of overdose due to respiratory depression and in fact, in most overdose cases, more than one CNS depressant has been found in the deceased.

I would repeat everything the other two said above me. GHB is a notoriously dangerous sedative, and mixing it with benzos based on how well you cope with benzos & alcohol sounds a lot like tempting fate. It's flawed logic and it could get you killed.

I wouldn't attempt any combination at all with GHB/GBL.

OK, three moderators unanimously agreeing is quite convincing ;)

I've found that Lyrica is a decent replacement for GHB anyway, although not as euphoric, but with a couple of beers it resembles GHB surprisingly much. It has a strong safety profile too, in very high doses the risk of seizures is very real but I hardly take more than 600 mg (it was my daily dose once but without tolerance it's about the max I want to take anyway).

i know it's not the same but similar, i have taken 100mg of baclofen along with 10mg clonazepam, i had insanely high tolerance to both hence why i combined them to try and get an effect, i woke up the next morning on my couch w/ no memory of the night before and i was alone so no one could tell me what i did lol hopefully i just laid down right away and went to sleep and wasn't cranking music all night and pissing off the neighbors lol.. not saying it is safe in your situation, baclofen is the closest i have came to GHB and i know it isn't all the same.. but if i were you i would take your prescribed dose of benzos and slowwwly work up on the GHB till you feel ok.. that is if you DO do it. I would just say with my common sense not to do it, but us drug users have weird ways of convincing ourselves things are safe when they're not.
Choice is yours.
Be Safe!
%)

after re-reading the other posts i agree it is too dangerous to try.. but still, choice is yours.

Just to clarify, I never intended to take a larger amount of benzo's than my normal daily dose. On the contrary I can actually manage a full day without clonazepam without any WD symptoms due to it's extremely long half-life (but again this just means the concentrations of clonazepam in my blood are still quite high). But I still have no interest in risking my life for any drug or euphoria in this world.

You're not risking your life by taking large amounts of benzos, unless you combine with another downer or get into some sort of ghetto fight. You can take stupid amounts of benzos and not come close to the fatal dose. That's why they were developed.

Not that I'm encouraging benzo abuse or anything...
