Regular use of GHB or equivalents can cause marked physical addiction. With 4-6 uses per week (single dose per use) at 'normal' dosages, people report finding that they need to increase their dose somewhat to get the same level of intoxication and many also report that they often feel like they need a little GHB to feel normal.
With very heavy use (one or more doses per day), many people report very serious physical addiction. Stopping cold turkey results in anxiety, inability to sleep, feeling like the heart is arrhythmic (irregular), and often very unpleasant and potentially dangerous effects. Many heavy users report being able to taper off their use to zero by reducing their intake slowly over 2-3 weeks.

GHB is addictive, and withdrawals are LIFE THREATENING! For so long the info was that this isn't an addictive drug and no big deal. Now it is readily apparent that it is highly addictive and, worse yet, getting off of it is tougher than many other drugs. Addicts are looking at two weeks in intensive care to shake it. Going into a regular drug withdrawal program without a doctor specifically experienced in GHB is dangerous. I recently interviewed a man who takes 20-30 capfuls per day just to MAINTAIN. He gets no buzz from that dosage. But anything less sends him into the violent shakes and horrible withdrawal pains associated with this drug.

i had always assumed my addiction was psychological not physical but it appears not.
having first used as alcover ( supplied in liquid# form from Italy -- special note to harry@ ) around 3.5 years ago i suspect i have gone through the addiction phrase several times.
whilst it is around i cannot stop using it and at best might do a few hours work before taking some to nap then on awakening in an attempt to eat ( else zero appetite ) then once or twice more during the night.
when my supply is running low i may take near knockout doses every couple of hours so i can get rid of it all and then back to normal.
i would love to be able to limit my use to solely sexual situations which i find to be the main atraction but cannot. in the past i have given my supply to my g/f and told her only to bring enough for a couple of sessions but that has never worked very well.
currently i have not had any for a couple of months but i suspect i will order more sometime and the cycle will repeat for a few months.
even in a once a day scenario i find it interfers with sleep pattern, appetite and increases general irritability -- the latter a lot. this has been true of those who use with me, maybe partly because of sleep interference. despite claims as a sleep aid i find it has the reverse effect. sure one can use it to induce sleep but i find the sleep is too shortlived as well as unsatisfacory.
i find the withdrawal not too bad once i have run out. troubled sleep and appetite problems for a few days and yearnings thereafter ( even now ) but otherwise ok.
overall a great drug so long as one can avoid overdoses ( did have one of those and ended up in hospital ) and addiction.
best go order some more and then find some way to limit my access to it. ( i have 2 adult children, both very anti drugs, both of whom have seen me pass out on G and of course they hate me taking it)
