Would it be possible for me to go to a pain clinic and just be honest with the doctor and tell him I wanted opiates for depression?

Of course its possible, you could go to a pain clinic and ask the doctor if you could have sex with his wife, too. But, If you went to a pain clinic for depression the doctor would probably tell you to get lost. If you went to a psychiatrist for depression you might have a 1 in a million chance. If you would get anything it'd be low dose suboxone, but I have no idea if any doctor from where you are from can justify writing a narcotic painkiller script for depression.

Suboxone is unacceptable. I'm specifically talking about oxycodone. Nothing else.

I am quite sure it will not happen. The thing these days is the docs have to write extensives notes and explanations as to why they are prescribing opiates/opioids. If these justifications for prescribing opiates does not match "standard of practice" (for example...it has to match what most all doctors would normally do to treat whatever your specific problem is) then the doc can be disciplined, including losing their license to practice and even criminal prosecution. These days the DEA is keeping a very close eyes on prescribing practices when it involves opiates/opioids. Most doctors are making sure that they have charted why it is absolutely necessary to prescribe narcotics including all the other treatments that they have attempted prior to prescribing narcotics.

RTrain is correct, no doc (unless you just happen to find one that is totally crooked or does not give a shit) in his right mind is going to prescribe oxy for depression. Hell, people who have legit pain have a lot of difficvulty gettin a doc to prescribe oxy for them.

Gotcha. I think I'll put all my energy into exploring psychedelics for depression.

A maintenance drug for depression, perhaps. Oxycodone, no chance.

We don't cover these kind of questions. They fall under the "what should I say to my doctor" category. Closed. PM any questions.
