Opioids Getting on Methadone

Hello, i've been a junkie for 3 years now. I want a way out and methadone is

that way out for me. I was on suboxone for a little over a year and when i got

off i just went strait back to oxycodone. I tried to get on the methadone

program 6 days ago.... only to find you have to be 18. I'm 18 as of today but it's

closed on sunday. Being as i have not had an opiate since Friday (hydrocodone
10mg)

I am worried that when i go tomorrow when they piss test me they won't find any opiates.

If i do piss clean for opiates (pretty sure i will, hydrocodone only has a half-life of 3.8~ hours) will they just see me as a kid looking to get some methadone hence barring me from the clinic?
 
When I went to a methadone clinic to get on methadone(allthough during the process of being initiated into their system I changed my mind and went to suboxone), I didnt have any opiates in my system and they still had no problem whatsoever letting me join their program. Just tell them the truth, how much you take a day, etc...and they should understand...especiallly if your in withdrawals(they will asses the severity of your withdrawals while your there).

And I definitely reccomend suboxone over methadone because you can still get high while on methadone MUCH easier than you can on suboxone.(pretty much EVERYONE at the clinic that I go to that is on the methadone program still does dope). Methadone isnt going to be some miracle drug thats gonna keep you from going "straight back to oxy" once you finally get off of it. Thats a problem with your way of thinking and being able to function normally without getting high all the time. No drug can change that, only determination and time can. Plus, methadone has WAAAY worse withdrawals than suboxone does once you decide to get off.

If I were you, I would stick with the subs. Its definitely better in the long run.

I repeat, methadone WILL NOT keep you from going back to oxy's once you get off any more than suboxone will.

I hope you make the right choice for you and stay clean to enjoy a long healthy life.

I know methadone is no wonder drug... im not that naive. And i did try to get back on suboxone and EVERY SINGLE doctor within a 3 hour drive radius has a waiting list... and yeah i know methadone is easily the worst opiate to withdraw from but i just have to get my life back together...
 
Ok, but you said yourself....."When I got off of suboxone I went straight back to oxy" as if you thought methadone would be different in that aspect. But as long as you realize that methadone will be even harder to get off of, and will probably even make it more likely that you go back to oxy once you get off, then I guess you are making an informed decision to get on methadone....even though I think its the wrong decision. But, to be honest, I have had no problems with any waiting lists or anything like that so maybe methadone is your only option.....but I just find it hard to believe that theres no doctor who can give you suboxone....especially since they lifted that 100 patient ban on the prescriptions. there should be PLENTY of docs legally allowed to prescribe suboxone who dont have over 100 patients unless you live in a tiny little town.
 
Unfortunately I do live in a small town. A rural ass town in TN. And yes the suboxone waiting list is very much a fact. And to clear things up I didn't want to get off suboxone; I was cut off because i missed a payment and got a letter saying i had been replaced because of a set number of patients the Dr. was allowed to have. That was in June
 
methadone maintanance is definately better than being addicted to Oxy, and all the risks that go with taking illegal drugs... when i first went to a methadone clinic, they did a piss test, and i was addicted to morphine at the time so i tested positive... and they gave me 40mg methadone, i went for a walk, came back 2 hours later, told them it wasn't enough, and they bumped me up to 60mg...

anyway back to your question, i think you're far more likely to get on methadone maintenance if you test positive for opiates, or if you have track marks... but you might as well give it a try, explain to them what you said in your post and if they reject you, just cop some opiates take them and go back
