Hi all,

So, my bf and I have been together for almost 5 yrs now and we are not in the best place due to several factors including my behavior and some bad choices regarding drugs .

I want to help him get clean from heroin asap. So, any advices of slowly tapering it down? His roa is smoking, and he s currently smoking around 0.3-.04 g per day approximately. this can vary widely.

I want to make a sobriety plan for him which should be easy to follow as well as attending work. Therefor how should i best approach this? Would taking around 0.1 a day for a week then slowly tapering it down work? What pills could help that do not cause motor loss or anything preventing work as he has to be able to work and talk to people.

Also the hardest thing for him is the pain, how long does it usually take? Cause he still felt bad even after 1 week of almost noH ( around 0.1 in the whole week) . So how does this work? With tapering? Cold turkey is not an option due to work, as he cannot be missing .

He did go to an addiction clinic but they wanted to put him on suboxone for another year and then for 6 months to taper it down. He does not want to go that way due to the research he has done on those meds and the huge time needed .
Anything is appreciated and thank you all!!

i just read your other thread, the one about addiction.
both you and your boyfriend have a lot to deal with and to go through.
wanting to create a tapering plan is good step in that direction, especially since it's something he asked your help with.

if that's an option, the ideal way is to involve a health care professional in this process who can help him work out a plan.

We both already started therapy and addiction recovery with medical professionals. Issue is they want to keep him either on suboxone or methadone which he does not want to depend on his entire life. Biggest issue is the pain from the cold turkey and the fact that he also has ti work. Do you think its possible to taper it down in a month so he d be fully out of it? He did quit once for a month when we were visiting our families but there was no temptation there

Tapering using street drugs (impure powders of unknown identity that vary in strength) is difficult to do.

Buperenorphine really isn't that bad, and it's especially better then being actively addicted to opioids while living a drug addict lifestyle.

I'd push a maintenance model a bit more. I was prescribed a 2mg strip for a week, then was moved onto a depot injection. After a year, I stopped the injections and as the buperenorphine cleared over the course of months I didn't experience any withdrawals whatsoever.

Buperenorphine saves lives.

They said they wanna keep him on them ( around 8 mg per day) which is a lot considering he told them he feels fine on 4 . This would take around 1 and a half year more of constant addiction is there a faster way?
