Serious Getting in trouble with the law as a drug user

Does anyone know how much being a former prison inmate convicted of a drug trafficking felony in the USA and/or Canada affects your chances of gaining employment in the future?

In my Australian home state of Victoria we have this thing called a working with children check that any adult person who works in a business where underage teens are working at and employed must pass in order to work.

What prevents you getting a working with children check? Any drug possession charges such as being caught with a Eight Ball of cocaine,meth,heroin.

Yep minor drug possession charges or even simple drug trafficking charges such as selling a gram of meth to a UC cop.

It doesn't matter if you get no jail time if you have a criminal record with criminal convictions for possession or benign charges like assault or affray or fraud then bang you can't work on a union construction site as a electrician, plumber and gas fitter because union construction sites have underage teens working as apprentices.

If you can't pass a working with children check it can really screw up your career.

Even most Fast food restaurants in Victoria expect you to pass the working with children check, so yeah if you are a 18 year old McDonald's employee who gets caught up in a police raid of a nightclub and you are arrested with 3 grams or more there's a good chance that you will have to front up to Court and take your chances at trial hopefully getting a lenient judge who might fine you but not convict you and not sentence a Criminal conviction which if the judge does the 18 year old Macca's crew will have to deal with being banned from working shifts with underage teens.

Does North America or European countries have a similar program?

In the US any felony will cause a huge barrier to employment. I don’t think we have any working with teens screening esp for fast food employment.. they are so hurting for workers right now the starting salary has more than doubled in the last two years.

But a felony will automatically preclude a person from most positions that requires a government license. You can still drive commercially, but most companies won’t hire a felon.

If you have a fraud charge you can’t be employed at anything that involves working with social security numbers.. the numbers all US citizens are issued.

Most employers do a background screening and have rules on who they will hire and how long they will wait to hire someone after they were convicted.

If your struggling with this I would look to groups that are trying to help felons find decent jobs.

There are always jobs out there that will hire and many good paying ones. Just have to find them. In the US gas and oil workers are one. Pretty damn dangerous. So there are opportunities out there.

I don't think there is really a "working with children" check in the US other than jobs where you specifically work with children. Unless you have some sort of sexual offender charge or are on some list.

Argh really? I'm in Melbourne and got done for possession of less than a point of meth in 2018. I can't believe what a nanny state this is (the whole country, but Vic is maybe the worst). What a joke not being able to get the working with children check. Yeah, I had 0.1g of meth on me so I must go round dealing to kids

The whole criminal record state is a major cause of recidivism. The systems are not there to rehabilitate offenders. They are there to refill and replenish an industry. For profit prisons that sign US government contracts that guarantee 120% capacity. It’s disturbing and disgusting. Most drug addicts and users are harmless good people and hardly criminals and that’s what makes them easy targets.

When I was living in a pay-by-the-week motel located above a strip club, I briefly hung out with a non-stripper lady who was a manager at a call center where telemarketing takes place. She told me nearly all her employees were ex-convicts who had done hard time. The lady offered me a job but I turned it down because I don't like high pressure sales or jobs that involve cold calling, mainly because I take it personally when people get pissed that you called and/or hang up on you when all you wanna do is meet your quota. BUT if I was an convicted felon who had no other prospects, I would definitely jump on any job that would hire me, including telemarketing.

Also day labor companies will prolly hire felons, which would mostly involve construction, factory, landscaping, janitorial type jobs.

While what you say is very true, magistrates in NSW are well aware of the damage a conviction will do to a young person’s future prospects. As such, even with a Legal Aid lawyer for most minor first offences for drugs you can be found guilty but have no conviction recorded. You have to plead guilty though.

But that’s only for the lowest possession or use charges. Here, more than just 2g meth will get you ‘possession with intent to sell’ - and then you are usually screwed.

But assault and affray are not ‘benign’ charges. Personally I wouldn’t want somebody guilty of those offences, or somebody who sells anything except weed, working around my kids. Even as older teenagers.

Most jobs are actually fake organized through like retards pretending to be diseases and employed at businesses like auto plants or t shirt print shops. And people who work at like grocery stores or restaurants steal money from the profits or all of it and they run it back through to make everything continue, it should’ve stopped a while back money circulating wise, also fake hospitals or doctors and other fake like office job places they embezzle money through insurance companies that they stole through pharmaceuticals being sold on the street. 6 billion dollars worth (cash in my closet, they’ve been doing this since like 2011, the fake DEA “Albert”showed up and I said to take it to catch them up, all money was for was buying drugs from PNC, I make the whole population sing and dance and perform in money or do circus tricks or stuff like in the jack ass movies or I remove drugs and shit everything down, no one knows where these knee fat guys that are probably dogs came from, drugs bring prescription just meant it was in short supply or else we didn’t get why pot went legal if they viewed these drugs as safe, marijuana was bad in its own way, it crashes economies and creates like jazz instrument players). It was actually a legitimate source of income to be a prostitute or drug dealer. Everyone else did planned economics, this is why we liked a large pool of money with moderately low prices. It was just rare to find someone selling drugs or the original or well new designer goods that caused all of this, I’m not talking over produced Nike or other stuff sold at macys or shopping malls. That stuff mine as well have been cheaper and same with the other cheaper clothes. Then people would actually go through it and toss it out, it became where stores charged high as prices for extremely cheap goods they buy or counterfeit overseas. Now everything did become outsourced or the public companies were mediocre. If anything was produced and sold there besides the originals that aren’t sold to anyone. It’s just one dudes clothes they’re wearing or they just design stuff to sell to the population and they outsource it. Prices couldn’t really be that high. Jobs didn’t really exist and all the restaurants were dirty or just not that great to go to, and fast food wasn’t that great cold or at all.

We just didn’t really like amateur porn or paying for homemade couples sex tapes. If that stuff didn’t go on we didn’t get what all the phones and cameras were for.

This is probably why places like Detroit didn’t actually arrest anyone or ticket anyone for drug possession, it was just possession and anyone who possessed drugs could be a dealer. Most people are broke buy 10 or 20 dollars lines or rocks once or few times a day. They get small bits of money and buy drugs. Or it just becomes buying 3 grams every time you get low.

I’m the pharmaceutical pill king pin where we pretend Pfizer and mercke are more expensive so no one can trace generic drugs back to pharmacies or prescriptions. There was no need for patients to sell their medicine besides paying like maybe the doctor bill but the street price wouldn’t be desirable. And keeping the drugs would be more desirable.

Pfizer and other companies like roche or mercke weren’t fake I just switch the name everytime there is an issue and some idiot pretends to the patent holder on the internet as a company that didn’t operate for years or at all. This happened at Pfizer the week after it started and it became Roche and then it became syntex, and then others. Sigma Aldrich started in my garage. We no longer like companies or compsnies or businesses doing business or arranged or planned business with each other. It’s gotta operate on its own or nothing takes place. China caused this while all bring fentanyl addicts, chinas actual population size is no more than one or ten thousand individuals.

We did make actual medicine that wasn’t just the compound in binders. Or slow release tablets.

The medicine is usually used for certain conditions so we would add other stuff to better the condition so there wasn’t stuff like growth hormone prescribed with flomax, it was in it. It’s because steroids swelled the prostate and caused hair loss and fogs stole the actavis version and use it through pet pharmacies and waste it.

In capitalism everything just gets stock piled and slowly fold and the price goes up.

In Canada you will be fucked with a drug trafficking charge or even something like possession in alot of companies. I know when i got hired at UPS they told anyone with a criminal record need not apply.
