Sorry guys might be a stupid question but i have to know. We have a huge bowl of Potpourri in the house and i see tons of half'd shells and the flower tops all dried up of course. Question is could these pods be active? Out of potpourri? If so how would i know? Ty for any help just wanted to know as im very curious.

I don't know man, I mean it's possible, if they are the right pods...Even then though it's difficult to measure dosage. If I were you I would just leave em and try to find somethin else.

Im assuming potpurri gets sprayed with some extra chemicals to enhance the scent, wouldn't be so sure about using the dried poppy bits to make tea with if I were you

Papaver somniferum pods are the only ones that contain opium, and I've never seen them in potpourri before. Even if they're the right kind, it would take several and they're likely coated with chemicals. I wouldn't advise ingesting them.

Are you sure the potpurri pods are Papaver somniferums?

There are a few types of poppy plants but only the somniferums contain opium alkaloids.

To the OP: No man, it's a wise idea to leave that Potpourri alone. It's true, they have tons of chemicals, colorings and sents that can make you sick.

I've never ever liked Potpourri, my folks used to have peach and teal colored baskets of them to match the colors in the bathroom and it got so dusty and looked so tacky they never had any artistic appeal to me whatsoever.

My HR sense tells me that this is probably a bad idea (due to the above mentioned lack of knowledge about contents)...
