Trust me.

Hey what are game companies looking for when you apply to be a tester?

cool then. please explain, so this thread isn't a total waste :)

Just go to the webpage of game developers or publishers like EA or Ubisoft. Lots have job sections and if they are looking for testers, then you will find it there. Like flat line, I've been working in that industry for years (not as a tester, but IT).

The testers usually are not paid very well, except for the ones with ages of experience. Their working hours can be extreme, especially in crunch time (when the game MUST be finished soon) and if you have fun to do the same things (which will probably crash the game) over and over again is for you to decide. But, for some, it really is a fantastic job nontheless. I know some of them :)

As far as requirements go, one company I know says:

* You love games.
* You are creative and have stacks of good ideas.
* You can identify problems, and give solutions.
* You can read and write well.
* You communicate well verbally and in writing.
* You have a good personality and get on well with people.
* You think you have what it takes to help test the very best games.
* You can handle pressure.
* You are passionate and will work whatever hours you need.
* You will bring cakes in when required.
