well, thats my two cents worth! I'll be in the corner if anyone needs me.

Elbows, elbows are the key for the Melbourne dance thing. When it gets a little too crowded, just stick the odd elbow, arm or foot out and that usually gets you a little bit of room.

elver: You can actually delete your multiple posts, just click on the last icon next to the date above the post you want to get rid of (the one that looks like a piece of paper and a pencil) and then tick the 'delete' box
And when you want to post a reply, as soon as you click 'submit' it is posted, even if you get an error message after a while, your post will still be there (as you can see from the multiple posts you made)...
Please read this thread too for a little more about this kinda thing: http://www.bluelight.ru/ubb/Forum29/HTML/000141.html?reload=26

i personally am a stomper, bouncer (the raving kinda dance style) and get some "underground" moves happening aswell. in sydney, when ur going hard (stomping i guess) u share this kinda bond with others around u that are going just as hard, its so beautiful!!
i remeber i used to dance totally different, b4 i started taking e of course and really started hearing some bangin hard tracks, but i seriously don't know how i used to dance. have u ever been in a totally wrong environment but heard a bangin tune and just get ur groove and dance the techno way, and (this happened in a bar) people just had no idea, they were captivated, intrigued and some thought it was hilarious!!
im from sydney.
something i noticed at superlove (a rave) was a bunch of younger kids (boys) doing this power walk around the room to the hardcore beat... that was amusing!! my stomp action usually moves and incorporates the bounce action when a real good, hard beat gets me pumped, and of course to rave music -its necessarry!!.
i have no idea what the whole melbourne shuffle thing is, but i plan to be coming to melbourne in a couple of months to party for a wkd. i guess i'll find out.
oh, i saw this brissy guy dancing, or should i say bouncing. it was like an irish jig!! he was all over the place. i love how in the scene, it (usually) open minded and cool when somthing is different.

**bump titty bump bump**
Awesome thread
Having come seen the dancing in Perth i'd have to say that it DOES depend on the individual,,, they all (for the most part) move their feet around,, and the arms are always pointing or grabbing or swinging or styling...
Brissy scene definitely appears more 'Land Ownership Needed' in the vertical & horizontal sudden movements with triple twist in pike position's type style's,., hehehe

Get those legs moving,Melbourne is the crazy leg state, that's the way to get heaps of room. What I find if someone was to stand right in front of be and just bop, you can easily make them move to the side by out charging them.It diffently works.

I'm writing this in an internet cafe 2 days after a shitty rave in Yugoslavia. I'm from melbourne, ie a frenzied shuffler and fuck did they look at me funny!
the rave was in a castle, ok music but everyone sways and dances really awkwardly...
one person appreciated the shuffle and tried it unsuccessfully...
so has anyone tried to pull our shit (shuffle) in other european places? I'd love to know if someone else was here in Yugo gettin weird looks for dancing energetically!
PS off the topic, speed and bickies are so cheap here it's not funny! 6 md pills and gram of speed $85 ha ha I love it!

I have yet to bewitness the melb shuffle. Well I've seen a melb mate dancing and he did something that could have been the shuffle but I'm not really sure...
I'd love to see a documentary (maybe one by bluelighters) on the diff dancing styles, hehe that'd be mad!

id have to say....yes the dancing style does change in each state.
where i come from (mildura) everyone comes bak n says "this is how they dance in melbourne....everyone is doin it"
so then my whole town dances like that
i think if the sheltered ppl in my town were to venture out into the unknown (a differnt state) they would see things much differntly

i've found that since i started going to raves and to this very moment in time i've changed the way i dance a few times... i used to jump around a lot and kick my legs out the the side and throw my arms around.. this style requires a fair bit of room... hehe ... now i still kinda dance the same just not so jumpy... unless i'm really reved up... also also also.. i found on the weekend i was just doing a lot of stomping realy.. a few steps with one foot, then onto the next foot for a few steps.. moving my body and hands however i wanted...
but i love to watch ppl dance, and even if you think you are a shit dancer i bet you are GREAT, coz whenever i watch ppl dance i think man i wish i could dance like that ... so therefore i conclude that everyone is a great dancer but of course melbourne dancers kick ass..

Only the person who has the dream knows what it means ... but sometimes even the person who has the dream has no fuckin idea what it means! !

Dancing in London is so completely diff to Melb... p'bly cos they pack them into the clubs here. Once, doing the Melb shuffle (didn't dare pull out the talc), this guy comes up and offers me "hundreds and hundreds of pounds to teach" him to dance like that! LOL... was a good feeling tho, cos I was feeling sooo self-conscious!

Having lived in Adelaide, the gold coast/briz-vegas and now in Sydeny I have to say that the dancing styles are all pretty different. My own style is some wierd-ass hybrid of them all. I love to bounce, and i find that if i'm dancing people tend to give me my space, otherwise they get trod on

2 words... DANCE OFF..!! ehehehe.. If people are so interested in other peoples dancing styles/abilities, someone should organise a meetup/dance off... Some guy "challanged" me the other morning at Kandy.. I'd never had that before, it was strange.. I've never really thought of people watching me dance, and when I took this guy up on his "challange", it was strange, 'coz we had a circle formed around us.. It was wierd, but also pretty exciting.. Anyway, i'm blabbing on.. If someone's interested in comparing peoples different styles of dancing, then lets think of having a "Bluelight Dance Demo"....

im a firm belevier that versatility and variation is whats important in "good dancing"
not just doing some retarted bootscootin shuffle (WHich may.... be tricky) over and over and over and over and over
