There's also unofficial German and Norwegian versions of the show.

I don't get why people rag on the American Office so much. It took a while to really hit its stride but now I think that the humor is just as smart and clever as the UK version. It's a little more slap-sticky and certainly not as dark, but its still a great show.

french canada has 3 things going for it: maple syrup, hot women and I forget the third.

I'll admit that they dumbed down the humor for the first ten episodes. If you're only impression was the first season, I could understand your position.
But after three seasons, the characters are given a lot more chance to develope than in the UK version. And there's some great characters that don't have any UK equivalent.
I'd say give it another chance.
