Hey BL
For the last two months I've been taking percs- like 40 mg/day. This probably doesn't sound like much to most people but it's definitely enough to give me pretty bad w/d. Like really bad.

Back in the 90's, I used to be addicted to ultrams- would take like 15/day of the 50mg IR pills. Recently, I started ordering the generic tramadol online to get me off the percs. I have the pills with the AN 627 imprint. I find these pills kind of whack. If I take like more than 3-4 of them I just feel really weird and medicated. I know when I took them all those years ago I got pretty damn high off them.

I know back in the day I was getting the name brand "Ultram". Has anyone found the generic ultram's to be weaker/different?

Percacet is a lot more euphoric than tramadol, likely it just seems different because the bar is set higher.

BTW 750 mgs of tramadol a day is NOT safe.

The wd's from trams IMO are far worse and loger lasting than Percs. Jay and Sqrl are right 750 mg is way too much and seizures are typical at this dose. I'd suggest asking your doc for some norco to taper off the percs. tapering down pers for me is hard... tapering norcs is easier for me and keeps most of the wd's at bay.

1. Tram is dangerous over 400mg a day.

2. Tram has pretty bad w/d itself. In fact in comparison to the cost/benefit of perc, tram is much worse.

Thanks for the concern guys- I'm definitely aware of the seizure risk with tram. It was foolish to take that much back in the day. I'm only taking like 6-7 of the 50mg pills per day now which is about right for dosing ultram. I take 3-4 in the AM and 3 at night. So, yeah, the dosage is much lower than I used to take. Still, I haven't noticed much cross tolerance between Ultram and Perc's believe it or not. Furthermore, I haven't taken tramadol in years. I find this rather curious.

Also, I feel kind-of anxious when I take these tramadols. It wipes out any w/d though, so at least there's that!

when i took trams for wd's it took over an hour to set in, but it lasted all day. I took 300-400 mg at one time in the morning. the wd's when i tried to taper down were really bad, so of course i went back to Oxy... viscious cycle.

I can't believe some people think Tramadol withdrawals are worse than oxycodone. I can handle Tramadol w/d's rather well but Oxycodone withdrawals are "terrible". I use Tramadol for Oxycodone withdrawals for that very reason. The Tramadol sort of eases the symptoms although doesn't get rid of them, just makes it more comfortable. Taking Tramadol for a couple weeks to get off Oxycodone is fine. You won't feel withdrawal symptoms from the Tramadol in that short of a period.

But not in such high doses, he could seize any minute.

@ J- yeah, as I wrote in my second post I don't take that much anymore. It would throw me into a full blown panic state. I only take like 5-6 a day now and I divide that into AM and PM doses.

@K'd- yeah, even when I was taking like a ridiculous amount of Ultram every damn day for 2 years- when I stopped the w/d only lasted a week. After 2 weeks I was mostly fine. Oxycodone w/d, on the other hand, has lasted for like a month for me. After 2 months I was in the clear.

Tapering down from 6-7 trams/day shouldn't, in theory, be so bad.

i hate tramadol for good reason. first, it's SNRI properties cause annoying side effects(anxiety, insomnia, restlessness). second, its a weak opioid with such a weak euphoria. the euphoric effects of codeine, kratom(which is even easier to get), and even proproxyphene(Darvocet) are better.

the side effects overcome any opioid euphoria from tramadol. i'd much rather dish out the cash for OCs, percs, or even vicodin.

Tramadol can be dysphoric but I wouldn't consider propoxyphene as better.
