Opioids Generic Subutex More Expensive Than Suboxone Films?

Hello Bluelight, its been quite a while since ive posted on the forums....quick hello to all the oldtime ODers :D

anyways as the title says, I encountered a pretty strange problem today at the pharmacy! I went to pick up my Suboxone Sublingual Films and was shocked when I was told my prescription would be $370+ dollars for a "months" supply(hehe...less is more young-grasshoppers, less is more... )for the last half of 2010 i was filling them no problem and my insurance was covering most of the cost. Today i was told that my insurance plan had possibly changed or something and that i now had to pay out of pocket, even for prescriptions, until our deductible was met. OK so i figures shit i can get my doctor to call me in a generic prescription instead and save me a bit of cash but i was hit with quite the surprise when the pharmacist tech informed me that:

A. There is no generic for suboxone, just generic subutex...i SWORE ive heard that one of the main reasons they released this new FILM version was because the generic version of suboxone had come out....the generic version of subutex has been out for a while now.

B. That aside, the generic equivalent of Subutex would be about $480 for the same month's supply...

how is this even possible lol?
has anyone else in my situation found a cheap way to get their meds? i forgot to mention that i do have those manufacture's coupons for the Suboxone Films which saves me $75 but still that means my script will be $300 out of pocket....

I haven't heard anything about generic suboxone before but then again I haven't been listening that closely. Pretty sure the only one with naloxone is suboxone.

You might be thinking of one of the other just buprenorphine preparations. I think there are two generic subutexs available now plus the patches and injectable.

As for cost well, I don't really know what to add other than it seems strange the generic is more expensive than the brand name.

they were preempting the future release of generic suboxone.

Sorry but we don't allow price discussion and that's all this thread is. Lots of people have difficulty paying for all sorts of prescription medication and outside of assistance programs, coupons and trying to get insurance that covers what you need, there isn't anything you can do.
