I'm genuinely curious why you would tactically vote for the yellow Tories because you don't like the blue variety?

I know people fought and died to give me the vote, but what use is it really, when the choice is basically between shit, shite or crap?

Bravo!

People have died so we can have all sorts of rights but this only ever gets brought up in relation to a poxy vote once every five years. Thousands have died defending workers rights but does this stop people complaining about their right NOT to join a union? Does it bollocks. People have died defending education for all so if you ever took a day off school hang your head in shame.

@Felix... Is this true?^ Cause am trying to vote tactically to get the tory/libs less power, or no power. I'm a sucker for scare tactics obviously and i dont know much about the structure of how the system works.

I was quoting directly from the STV website. Click on it. I can only assume that what they're saying is true, but that quote from Jim Murphy looks downright bizarre.

Feeling bullied in to voting Labour now. Really want rid of Cameron. But won't Labour get the majority vote anyway, even if Scotland votes Snp?

Feeling bullied by who??? What are you on about?

I hope that Labour manage to form a government with the SNP's help, if that's what you mean.

@Felix....I was asking for some help in understanding if his comments have any truth behind them or if this is just scare tactics to steal votes from people like me - who dont fully understand the way votes make up the outcome. I wasnt trying to accuse you of talking out your arse.

Feeling bullied by torys as i dont want cameron leading the country! So yes i want labour to get in.

If I was an SNP/Sturgeon supporter I'd be gearing myself up for some serious reds under da bedz shit from the secret service. You ain't seen nothing yet.

yeah i fully expect some mind boggling swings to labour at the last few minutes.......i cannot believe the SNP will be allowed to have any say in forming a government......us Jocks should just stay in out boxes and keep quiet.

Most folk, even the non independence voters can see that the SNP are the only way Scottish people voices will be heard in the UK, hence the mega positive polls for them

Jim Murphy's comments are absolute bollocks, and I can't believe he actually said that to a journalist. He's given up on telling people why it's a good idea to vote Labour (which is what he should be doing, as the leader of the Scottish Labour Party), and it looks like he's thrown in the towel already, blaming the SNP for Labour's downfall in Scotland. It's pure pish. They're finished in Scotland for many reasons which are all their own fault.

If you're Scottish, vote SNP. (If you want my advice.) :)

Seems too much of a lead to be able to fix with dodgy postal voting like they probably did in the referendum, though i wouldn't put it past them trying. Other dirtier means to influence the vote may be tried in this final week, though these days our secret state are a bit more 'subtle', preferring things like armies of fake internet personae, and tweaking newsfeeds ontop of the more traditional subversion of journalism (it still didn't work in scotland, for now). I remember reading somewhere that MI5 already consider scottish independence as a 'national security issue', so they've got tonnes of carefully vetted non-scots working away on it already (they've been doing this at least since they bumped off willie mcrae) - this will surely increase if the polls pan out. (also trident means that the us will also consider it this way, so add their spooks on top)

No good in scotland, but for england, i suspect they might even have the royal baby in the next few days to give the union a boost (even if they don't actually have it - they don't have to show photos at first anyway - she can just hold a bunch of towels - anything to protect the family (e)state)

I've not voted as yet, I've always voted Labour in the past on the basis that they had at least some Socialist ideals, in the run up I intended to do the same but on looking at their plans I'm struggling to do so.

In the past I would have considered the Greens as a protest party with no real overall vision for the country but on looking at their policies and overall approach I find myself having to admit they fit with the policies I would want to see than any of the rest. I know that when you know you're not going to be in power it's easier to make more radical statements but I'm coming to the view that I should vote for the party that I would want in power and not just vote Labour to try and keep the Tories out, I can barely tell the differance between them, I mean FFS Labour aren't even talking about trying to rebuild our 'Council House' scheme.

I've got to agree. And it's looking likely that i will vote snp.

I'm in the same boat as you. It's been obvious ever since Tony Blair (and probably before) that Labour are not the party they claim to be. Their policies essentially have the same goals as the Tories but they're not as blatant about it. In the past I've voted for them simply as the best of two shit options, but I don't think they're even that any more. If they get in power then austerity will continue, as well as the ongoing privatisation of the NHS, Transport, and other services.

I'll be voting Green from now on, unless a better more radical left alternative presents itself, but will also be living with the knowledge that it's going to take some serious social change in order to fix the problems with this society. Change that cannot occur simply by voting a party into power.

just got sent this

Dear John

Many thanks for your email. Yes, we have made the commitment to raise the minimum wage to £10 per hour. This one of many pledges The Green Party is making to help make our society fairer for everyone. You may be interested in the following that is taken from our Manifesto.

Increase the minimum wage so that it is a living wage. We propose a minimum wage target for everyone who is working in the UK of £10 per hour by 2020. In 2015 this would mean a minimum wage of £8.10 an hour generally (and £9.40 in London), saving £2.4 billion a year in tax credits and generating an additional £1.5 billion a year in income tax and National Insurance. This would be offset by £0.7 billion a year additional costs in the public sector.

Revive the role of democratic trade unions, including the right to belong to a union and have the employer recognise it, and the right to take industrial action, including strikes and peaceful picketing.

Phase in a 35-hour week. Apart from improving the quality of our lives, this would combat unemployment by sharing available work out more equitably.

Provide a comprehensive nationwide system of good-quality pre-school early education and childcare, free at the point of delivery.

End exploitative zero-hours contracts.

End the exploitation of interns, and ensure no unpaid full-time internship lasts more than four weeks.

Make equal pay for men and women a reality.

Introduce a maximum pay ratio of 10:1 between the best paid and the worst paid in every organisation.

End blacklisting. We will set up a full investigation into blacklisting in the construction industry and consider the creation of a new criminal offence.

Give workers a greater say in the running of their companies, including employee-elected directors in medium and larger companies.

Reduce Employment Tribunal fees so that tribunals are accessible to workers.

Please do contact me if you would like further information.

Best wishes
