What's the gender split of your friendship group like?

I was thinking that between my close friends and my extended friends both are split almost exactly 50/50. Just wondering whether this is 'normal' or whether other people's friendship groups lean more towards their own sex, or in (I expext) a few rare cases the other way. How is yours split?

Out of my extremely limited group of friends there is only one female among them.
When I was in work it was probably 70/30 the majority again being male.

Over my life so far it's probably been about even - more like 60/40 in favour of women probably. In terms of close friendships, I tend to get on much better with women but the close male friends I have had have been very close friendships just few and far between. I definitely get on better with women in general though.

Yeah I've found this to an extent. When I was in my younger years of secondary school my best friend was female and we went everywhere together, she's still one of my best. Don't speak to her often enough but she's one of those people that I could call up and say pretty much anything to. For a while when I was like 12/13/14 all my friends were girls really (I think my parents thought I was gay when really I was just trying to bang them=D) but that changed when I started getting in to pills and illegal raves. I've always had male friends as well but I definitely think I relate to women better, I always end up chatting to them more than the guys if we go out on the town as a big group. Ironically one of my best male friends now is just about to propose to one of my group of female friends from when I was younger which is %)

About even, but out of the three friends I see on an almost daily basis two are female (I'm male)

To make things a little more interesting, how often have male+female friendships led to sex/ love in your group? Seems to happen quite often in mine

Until about my mid-twenties, I had a posse of up to seven fag hags who accompanied me more or less everywhere, despite the fact I'm not gay. Alright, they were friends really (in the looser sense of the word), but they were fag hags. No question.

Aside from that I really haven't bothered to think about it, but I suppose it's been more or less even, possibly with slight bias toward males. Primarily because my real friendships tend to be pretty intense, and it's difficult to maintain a strong platonic friendship with somebody of the opposite sex (if you're both straight, etc. etc.) when one or both of you acquire a partner. There are exceptions, but it's a tough one. Especially if the partner in question is prone to insecurity, and obviously if one or both of you are gorgeous then fuggedaboudit.

I don't conform to the usual creepy pattern of partying with the men and baring my soul to the women either. If anything it's my female friends / acquaintances that I've partied the hardest with. Though that could be because I naturally gravitate toward 'troubled' / alcoholic women, and they to me. Friendships of the damned.
