While my Grandad was is hospital with lung cancer, Oramorph had him totally off his tits - He was hallucinating quite drastically (Seeing mice all over the floor, thinking people were talking in French, mistaking packets of Biscuits for packs of Cigs) but he was on a great deal of other meds like Steroids to try stunt the grown of the tumour. So the interactions may have added to that. But he was in and out, nodding his face off and was completely out of pain, so I'm glad that he went relatively peacefully and pain-free.

It's started to be thought that Morphine doesn't actually have that much effect when it comes to Codeine's metabolites, and that it's more likely to be Codeine-6-Glucuronide (C6G). My experiences with Codeine and Morphine give me quite markedly different effects.
But that's really, really good info about the Squill content man :) **Thumbs up**

There's also Codeine, Thebaine and trace amounts of other Opiates to consider though.
 
this is all funny stuff, see i always remember there bein big pharmacy bottles of codeine linctus or benilyn bein under the sink at me grannies, my grandad loved the stuff, and any time there was a lil snivel out of any of us the big bottle, or rather one f the big bottles of benilyn d come out, remember me cousin used to swig it ou ofthe bottle....could this be how i started my love of opiates from bein fed it as a youngster??? the big h did used to be used as a relief for colic back in the day, cure all indeedy !!

Having a taste for such things early on can influence what you find appealing later on :\
 
Whilst it is true M6G bears some responsibility for the pain relieving and euphoriant effects of codeine, it isn't ALL of it, and whilst promethazine does extend the duration of codeine, it DOES impair the euphoria if taken at the same time, or before it.

I speak from experience combining codeine linctus/pulmo bailly cough mixture with promethazine.
 
I found Gees Linctus very effective for coughs, and I liked it.

Can't get it where I live now.


I blame Howard Marks, if you seen his one man stand up he chugs from a bottle all through the show. Well in between smoking joints suppled by the audience.
 
Oramorph is used loads for terminal pain as a "breakthrough pain" drug - so you have your background analgesia, modified release morphine or fent patch or whatever, then you can have extra oramorph on top for when the pain breaks through the background analgesia. Has to be the right dose though but it is usually v effective. People vary a lot in their response and if you are on high dose background opiates you need a fairly hefty breakthough oramorph dose..

(Sorry, the thread has moved on now from oramorph discussions, am being dopey!)
 
^Pretty rapidly. I notice something within the first ten mins or so of ingesting. But that could just be due to my benzo use and the alcohol content.

This thread made me get another bottle, of which I've just swallowed. Down in one is a no can do. More like down in six with that shite. I just hope I'm not gonna be heaving into the toilet bowl in a few hours.
 
I usually used to just sup at it cos I loved the taste. Yes really. Didn't know Howard Marks liked to do the same but he's clearly a man of taste. Keep meaning to buy some online but never get around to it. Not sure if I'd even feel it much these days but was always my fave weak(ish) opi. And is by far the tastiest :D

Anyone know what the limit on orders is from most sites? Four bottles (or maybe six?) rings a bell but might be thinking of codeine linctus. When it was my daily DOC I never really used more than four bottles a day but did actually get some fairly unpleasant withdrawals if I had less or went without. Not exactly gramme a day of smack w/d but way worse than you'd think for such a more mild drug. Even Gee's can bite yer bum if you hammer it too long :\

PS: I could feel it within minutes (probably the alcohol as TG says) but took a good coupla hours to peak followed by a good few hours of lushy plateau. This was quite some time ago and was only using Gee's and the odd few codeine pills regularly (ie daily) at the time.
 
Four or six bottles?!. I can't see it myself these days, but I couldn't say for sure.

Most places only allow you to order one bottle per week. That's why you need to alternate between a good few of 'em. Shipping can be quite expensive at times though cuz most of them are recorded delivery as standard.
 
Ah! That sounds about right. Think I was thinking of codeine linctus which you can definitely order up to six bottles of from some sites. Given the cost of product vs cost of shipping it's a complete pisstake if you can only buy singles really. But even getting two bottles of Gee's at once from an actual chemist is a feat rare enough to be described as "awesome" in every sense of the word. The then Mrs Shambles used to wangle two bottles every time I asked her to go in for me. Get yerself a woman of a certain age, TG - worth their weight in gold :D
 
Ha! That rather depends on your age at the time - I was still in me teens so mid-30s seemed impossibly mature to me :D

She also looked quite a lot like Josie Lawrence who I had a massive crush on for ages so that with the two bottles thing made for a pretty amazing combo =D

She was also quite fond of Gee's but not half as much as I was. Who says I can't stay on topic? :D

I'll be 30 this year, so I'm willing to go up to anyone nearing their mid-40s. Well, that is if they look anything like Julianne Moore. =D

Oh yea I'm not suggesting that it's all down to C6G man, just that it's more likely to play the larger part in the opera :)
And yes - Promethazine has Dopamine Antagonist properties (not sure which D-subreceptor it is, either 1 or 2 or both or more =D) so it does tend to dampen the euphoria from all Opiates/Opioids. Sucks lots, as in every other aspect, it's the perfect accompaniment as a synergist and to the side effects :\
