I'm intrigued over this stuff. Got a couple of bottles here. Active ingredient is opium tincture 0.083ml/5ml, which means there's 3.32ml opium tincture per 200ml bottle (along with too much ethanol for my liking and some squill oxymel).

My question is what's in the opium tincture? I appreciate it's presumably just a full spectrum extraction, but what are the most prominent and interesting compounds within that extraction? And how do you quantify how strong a tincture is ... surely it's different every time =/

Also the squill oxymel stuff. It's just an expectorant, which wikipedia leads me to believe is essentially just a mucous thinner, and obviously it's safe enough in higher doses if everyone is still standing, but does it do much in terms of side effects?

Tincture of opium is actually another name for laudnum. I bought a bottle back in April and it was vile. I could only get through about 90% of my bottle before my stomach said enough. If I'd tried to finish it I would have puked the whole lot back up. If you have any kind of opiate tolerance then it's best avoided as you won't get much, if anything off it.

When I had my bottle I felt queasy for for hours afterwards and the Gees flavoured burps were pretty sickening too. I put up the link to the online chemist I got it from but had to remove it but in a UK only Google search it's an easy enough find.

Yeah I know tincture of opium is another name for laudanum, I also know that some people like the taste, others don't, some people find it's a crap opiate, others love it, and I have two bottles sitting here anyway so I don't need to know where to buy it.

After more searching, old BL threads and wiki seem to suggest that opium tincture contains about 10% powdered opium by mass, which is the equivalent of 1% morphine. I'm assuming this is mass concentration, meaning that within 100ml solution there's 1g morphine, meaning ~1ml = 10mg, which means 3.32ml = ~33.2mg morphine.

Of course being a full spectrum extraction, there will also be codeine, and other alkaloids, as well as the ethanol.

My intrigue comes from wanting to put mg quantities on what I'm taking I think. Does this sound about right though? Also, anyone have any idea roughly how much codeine will be in it?

When I was non-tolerant this was on a par with, if not slightly better than a CWE of a pack of co-co's.

From what I remember Gee's is a lot easier to blag (or even straight-up buy without questioning!) than codeine linctus, so I'm tempted to give it another go tomorrow. Not had codeine in over a month, so hopefully the ol' tolerance will be down enough to enjoy it.

What sort of tolerance does everyone else have (preferably in terms of codeine/CWE), and do you get any effect from Gee's? Is it comparable to your usual dose of codeine?

I ask in terms of codeine only because it seems to be the most commonly abused opiate in these circles, being over the counter and all. Inb4flame by people who hate codeine.
