GHB (GBL?) - 2nd Time - This is fun?

Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate. It sounds like some kind of industrial solvent, and it sure tastes like one. A friend had procured some GHB and assured me that it was a mellow, enjoyable high, perfect for a quiet night at home. I was hesitant, as I had tried GHB years ago and hadn't found it interesting at all, but was interested in trying it again because it had been a while and perhaps tastes change.

Finally I was able to convince myself to try a half of a "cap" (a little more than a teaspoon perhaps? 7-10 ml?) of unknown concentrate GHB solution. I tried to toss it back and was treated to what I imagine it would taste like if you were to take a shot of nail polish remover. I chased it with some pomegranate juice and finally some strongly flavored gum.

A minute or two later, I could already feel the effects, which were mostly just a slowing down of thoughts. I find myself immediately wishing I hadn't taken it, as I don't really enjoy chemicals that tend to quiet thoughts. Alcohol, Benzos and apparently GHB all tend to make me feel brain dead and irritable. It's strange, but when i feel brain dead, i get anxious, which is the exact feeling these drugs are commonly know to combat. All I wanted to do was sit and stare until I felt sober again, but if I let my mind wander too much I would feel uncomfortable. I was able to maintain conversation the whole time though I didn't always feel like talking.

For two hours i felt the effects at their strongest (which wasn't very strong because i didn't really take that much), and then the high transitioned into something that I could see as enjoyable perhaps. I felt slightly out of it and not particularly pleasant, though I can tell there was some slight euphoric aspects. I had weird sensations in my muscles, but they didn't really feel loose or anything. After a while I got incredibly tired and had to fight the urge to go to sleep.

Analysis and Caveats
I can't see myself wanting to take this again.. i'd rather just smoke cannabis any day. I had been smoking cannabis before I took the GHB but I didnt smoke again until a time after which this trip report has documented.

Are you sure it was GHB? The duration fits, but from everything I've read it would seem that GHB has a "licorice" or "salty" taste (depending on the convertion) instead of tasting like nail polish remover. The batch of GBL I had a while ago tasted exactly like somekind of nail polish remover, diluting it with something didn't even help properly, it's really foul..

Too bad you didn't like it though, I sure do! :) If there ever comes a next time, be sure to smoke some weed with it. :)

yeah, that taste thing definitely sounds like GBL.. GHB is definitely better and more euphoric and has less of a crash. however, if you don't like GBL you probably wouldn't like GHB much more.

Hmm.. it could have been GBL. It certainly didn't taste salty at all, which is one thing I though was different from other reports I had read. I'll talk to the person who had it... is there any easy way to differentiate the two, like an EZ test or something?

There was also a DEA Microgram report of N-methylpyrrolidinone (NMP) (an industrial solvent) being found in a solution of GHB, and I think i remember somebody mentioning some industrial product being sold with large amounts of a GHB precursor somewhere on bluelight

I doubt there will be a next time, since I didn't really want to take it this time but I wanted to remember if it was like I remember. And I could have smoked cannabis but i didnt want to increase the effects

Sounds like GBL, based on the taste and onset.

I think the DEA found the NMP-contaminated solution, and reasoned that either somebody developed a novel synthesis for GHB through NMP, or that they added it to a GBL solution and sold it as such.

There is a nice synergy with cannabis - but that generally applies to anything anyhow. If you don't like traditional sedative/hypnotics, GHB doesn't really offer anything that special IMHO.

Its low toxicity and (dubiously?) possible health benefits make it of interest still though :) Good report - you don't see many on chems likes this in the forum lately.

Bump!

Does anyone have any detailed GHB reports in a club setting or has anyone had any bad physical symptoms while on this drug?

GBL is stronger than GHB (even when not diluted). Recently my girlfriend and I both double dropped pills in a club, mine never kicked in because we had rolled the previous day. Hers didn't either but she took two more later. Then had a shot of GBL, waited 30 minutes and had another just as the pills were kicking in. She then smoked some in the bathroom so it kinda all hit her at once. She was a mess, couldn't speak (slurring horribly), couldn't control her legs and kept kicking randomly, bit me when I sat on her to control her. She was kinda pissed at me because I was trying to bring her down a notch or two. With how often we roll, we both have pretty good control over it and she just wouldn't calm herself down. She said she was glad she had the experience and had a great time, but especially for me, since I was sober, it was kinda scary.

It's strange how some people hate it, while others absolutely LOVE it!

I think it all comes from expectation. Every time I've had it, I have not enjoyed it, rather, totally bored and unimpressed from it all. To hear people praising it's merits, and describing the effects, I think "hey, this sounds exactly what I'm looking for" and after ingestion, it never is. But you keep going back with optimism.... "maybe it'll be different next time". Bah.
