GBL Megathread 4: End of an Era?

I have just purchased 500ml of "99.9% pure gbl" from an online vendor who i have ordered from a couple of times in the past. After some delay and a bit of nagging it arrived in 2 seperate 250ml bottles. Immediatly i opened one of the bottles and gave it a smell to find that the odour is different to gbl that i have had from him before. I can't describe the odour. its just different to the familiar gbl smell that i am used to.

I have emailed the company but had no response yet. I have searched long and hard over the internet and can't find any information on bad batches of gbl and the vendors website from where i purchased it is still up and running. So can anyone shed some light on what i have in these bottles. I am apprehensive about touching the stuff just incase it has harmful effects. Can gbl vary in smell?

500ml for me is a lifetime supply and it's such a shame if what i have is contaminated or fake. And due to the new legislation coming into effect i won't have time to buy some more.

It's perfectly normal for a new bottle to smell different and the chances of it being somehow fake are extremely remote. I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe try to freeze it cos 1,4B goes mushy in the freezer (from memory) whilst GBL won't. 1,4B is unlikely but can't imagine for a second it would be anything else. Nobody can say for sure... but I'm fairly sure you have GBL :)

Thankyou Shambles. Your optimism is re assuring. A ml of gbl normally has a strong effect on me so i guess the only way to be sure is to try a mil later and see what happens.
 
I wouldn't worry yourself too much (although safe, sorry etc) as I've never heard of any vendor selling "fake" GBL. Does seem to be dodgier in the US/Australia where it's illegal already. You can do the freezer test for 1,4B but other than that it's pretty much suck it and see really. You could maybe start with a smaller dose than usual and see if you're really concerned :)
 
BD has some thing really wrong with its temperature regulation....aka freezing point. When I got mine months ago it turned up as a HDPE bottle surrounding a block of ice! Thought the Royal Mail had been fucking me about by keeping it in the deep freeze.
Took 4 hours to defrost.
Anyway its impossible to mistake BD and GB. BD would have turned up frozen and now when you attack it with venom and vigour you will find the term "tastes like shit" very much an underestimation:\
And a certain one or 2 possible related companies have sent out different smelling/ tasting batches of GB before. I got used to one taste but the sauce fucked me about, so I swapped back to someone else and it tasted hugely different.
Anyway I'm off to eyeball some phenazepam and I'll not be seeing you all later;)
 
I damn sure won't be doing so, hence the;)..... this is one substance that I will be taking large care with.
Anyway I have to totally rearrange my life or go to NA or AA meetings, because there are too many things that cause me to go back on various things....each time I come off guice another week passes and a reason peeps out again and I sit on my bed staring into space and thinking about whether I should drink, eat opiates, take GBL, find some brown:|.....its far too much.
And to be honest its got an awful lot to do with my interaction with my dad.....having to be around him is the biggest trigger to my GBL use:|
It would be better if I left this town, but the choice would be where to?

Fuck it I think I'll go to a meeting tomorrow, or perhaps two. After eyeballing some phenazepam of course:|....or not:)..more like on GBL, well but of course!
 
i believe that gbl will be available even after the UK ban - have already seen on-line shops from other countries in the EU.
 
The problem is not so much that it will be hard to find from overseas so much as it's bulky and sloshes about - easy pickings for customs. Pretty sure it will still be around here and there, but will be much harder to come by and more expensive.

I think it'll get through easy enough. I'm sure customs can't stop every bottle of perfume or booze or even gbl just because it slushes about.

Although I can foresee interaction between EU countries to start busting the companies come to think of it. Still no report of the ban in the media.
 
Fucking thing is the work of the devil. So many things negative about it.
And I've been doing aspects of CBT for years....I spent 2 hours this morning thinking back over how I only just made it through the week and now I could go to my parents sober and take it from there. And then after 9 days without the man from Del Monte he say yes:|.....that fucking Del Monte brand guice, its satan.

I'm joining a gym this week as have 3 months free.

I have to dredge up a level of willpower about cleaning that I can't find anywhere, although Mr Del Monte manages to find my will power every few weeks for too many days.

Although....what the fuck too much to say. I'm off to Jeremy Kyle to admit everything and go very in depth only to have it cut down to 2 minutes of him glaring:|

Oh I'm sure there'll be plenty that gets through customs but I can't see it becoming a major import. Some aficionados will import some for their own use but I can't see it becoming a street drug cos it's just too much of a pain in the arse to import and the demand for it isn't big enough to make it worth the effort. It'll be around for those that can be bothered to import and don't mind the risks that may involve but how many will bother? Probably not that many, in my opinion. I also agree that there's a good chance certain known large export countries will be more watched - at least for a while. Suspect the ban may well end up being Europe-wide pretty soon too cos that's the way these things tend to go :\

The media has been reporting the ban for ages now - I hardly ever read the papers or watch the news but even I've seen the ban mentioned. Admittedly certain Hate Mail-type papers focus more on the "It's still not been banned even though we told them too - Ban This Sick Filth!!!" angle and leave the "It'll be banned on 24th December" bit for the small print.
 
WTF did they pick xmas eve to ban it? Worried that it would be under everyones xmas tree if they didn't?

Could do with a few mls, but i'm just about back in the world, and its scarier than when i had my lost two months. If I got anymore, I doubt I'd surface before middle of january.

hmm, still have to try the conversion before it gets too hard to get hold of.

Anyone knows wheter it would also be illegal to order as a wheel cleaner? I still think they make it illegal to have as a drug, but that you can still order it online.
 
I would think it'll probably still be possible to order but only for businesses not private individuals. It's still widely used for many commercial/industrial purposes so I doubt it'll a blanket ban. Maybe get friendly with your local garage ;)

I know in holland you would need a special number to prove your a corporation to order it next year.:!
There's no mentioning of this in the new UK law, so i still think it would be possible to order from those sites, and as you said GBL is widely used for professional reasons.

Some UK vendors only ship to registered businesses now (think you have to provide VAT details or summat) but not sure if they'll still be selling after the ban. If they really are selling only to business customers then it's possible. Pretty sure GBL isn't being banned outright cos it's so widely used for legit purposes.
