GBL Megathread 4: End of an Era?

"The Magic" definitely returns in full force after a break. Had my first bit since the ban this last week and it was sexy as it was first time around. Must admit I slipped straight back to dosing morning til night so it didn't last too long. It's just as good - and just as bad - as it ever was but definitely all the sweeter for time off.

Good that's me sold, still don't think it's worth doing once that goes but then again it gets inside yer head pretty quick. :p Still that first magic is on a different level to most things.

Sadly GBL no longer does me any favors... I suffer withdrawals after 24hours of use, after a month or more of abstinence :( I didn't realise I was overusing it, like so many - and quit cold turkey once I saw myself sweating lots, feeling anxious and not being able to sleep without it :/ Thought after a month I'd be ok to use some again (for only a day and night) but suffered minor withdrawals once more. Insomnia being the worse symptom.

Best left alone for me unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) It's the one drug I became physically addicted to, and hopefully the last.

well it seems like you've beaten it :) guess it's a good thing we can't get hold so easily any more...

it's always a bad sign when you realised you can't sleep without some substance, that's when i decided to try and stay away from it myself

on the bright side, you're probably all clear in terms of health; gbl/ghb is not particularly bad for the body so as long as you've managed to quite you haven't caused any permanent damage or anything like that :D

A month is clearly not long enough, try 5-6 instead and I'd be amazed if you felt WD's within 24 hours, I always heard ex users (of not that long) always had the same problem, IIRC the body 'remembers' G up to a point so that explains why you felt WD's so quickly could be wrong but I think the fact other ex users have got the full magic back after long breaks shows some evidence that a long break does really work to a full extent.

10 years, and thats about when the real pills and real base and real 400mcg blotters come back. 2020 its on my cards.........oh wait doesn't the world end in 2012, damn mayan calendar!
:(

I'm not one to talk but there's not really any drug you're meant to sit and do for 24 hours, not that this stops me :p.

GBL is best kept to once or twice a week and for just a few hours. After you've redosed once or twice it quickly loses its appeal. But that feeling is so good that its easy to get caught up, hence why in the last year I've had to chuck 2 bottles away

Dunno wheter there even is magic with GBL, its a pretty shitty drug compared to others.

However its been the solution for my addictive personality, eg i can take it daily without a bad addiction occuring or shitty comedowns.
However its tricky that you have to be sure only to take it every evening and you can get caught up in taking it from early morning pretty easily.

There is a definite magic - just perhaps not for everyone.

Comparing it to booze (a shitty chemical) is just ridiculous.

I disagree the magic was brilliant just extremely short lived. Does anyone know the reason for the magic loss?

GHB causes the GHB receptor to downregulate, a easy to get antipsychotic(Sulpiride) has been shown to upregulate the GHB receptor[1].

This might be ridiculous but if sulpiride was taken with gbl... I might get the magic back?

- The pharmacologically retarded.

i think it would be more a course of sulpiride would make subsequent G effects better
anti psyches are not something you want to take if not necessary, very unpleasant things

Yeah I don't particularly find that G has some kind of 'magic' to it. But then that could be to do with my bodies strange way it responds to G unlike everyone else.

This study confirms that the GHB receptor plays a significant role in the behavor effects of GHB[1] so upregulation of this receptor should return some of the initial effects.

However, its been suggested that sulpiride acts as a antagonist of the GHB receptor, so adding in sulpiride could induce withdrawals if you are dependent, not sure about that tough, i'l look into it.

The literature is pretty confusing on this, both GABAB and GHB play significant roles in the effects of GHB. (Interplay between both probably explains the behavor effects of GHB)
Since that sulpiride is pretty safe and widely used as an antipsychotic, someone with a high tolerance that isnt dependent should try it and post the results. In low doses sulpiride preferentially antagonizes presynaptic dopamine receptors, wich isnt as bad as antagonizing postsynaptic receptors.

I dont know how safe it is to take sulpiride if your dependent on GHB, not wort the risk.

I wasn't planning on trying it while dependant. Ideas for the future. My only short-term goal at the moment is kicking the habit which is going nicely today it seems.
