In my opinion, GBL has no place in bodybuilding full stop. It's a recreational drug, and a poor one at that.
I'd also add that I ended up in hospital quite a few times from GBL overdoses. At the beginning it's easy to avoid but once you get addicted and are constantly dosing 24/7 it's easy to do once you become complacent. I remember one time I ended up spending a week in intensive care and almost died. It really is a miracle I'm still alive really, but that's besides the point.
How do you almost die from GHB/GBL by themselves unless you're trying to commit suicide? I've had instances where I couldn't maintain consciousness for longer than about a minute for 6 hours. I basically would pass out for an hour, wake up, move and fall on my face. but the drug by itself is safe, it just has a steep doseage curve that can give the illusion of a serious ovderose, when in reality you're just having a nice involuntary nap. As far as I know one would need to consume around 10-20g of GHB (having no tolerance) to need medical help, and that's about 10 times the dose you need. Other risk factors might be... Well, choking on your own vomit and seizures, which is worth calling emergency services.
But G is something you sip on and wait an hour before considering a redose.
Believe it or not many doctors really don't know a whole lot about GHB; especially in the US. It has been studied that GHB actually aids in preserving oxygen around internal organs, so even if your breathing is 'dangerously shallow' your body is in less danger than other overdoses, though a person operating on you may think they saved your life.
Now as for body building, GHB is good with AAS post work out. GHB can help get oxygen to muscles post work out and aid in protein synthesis. For someone off any AAS, I can't promise GHB will build a lot of muscle, though I noticed gains, but it is a great non-stimulant fat burner and will help conserve muscle mass.
Now I agree with you as far as addictiveness goes. It's really easy to keep sipping it when its available, but the withdrawals are probably the worst I've ever had. It's like a combination of opiate, alcohol and benzo withdrawals.
