First of all, I searched and I couldn't find any specific section on here to post this, so I'm hoping no one gets to irritated if this is the wrong section. If it is, please move it to it's correct designation.

Mkay, so I was out back today and noticed some mushrooms and decided to pick them and inspect them. Later I found on completely different mushroom in my front yard, and looked it up.

Pictures (Could only use my phone, but better than nothing.)---

I think these look kind of like Psilocybe baeocystis---

Hoping to get some input, thanks guys.

I am googling how to do a spore print, and I'm not sure I can at the time.

As for a professional... Not sure about that haha.

If anyone can help though, that'd be great.

I don't know if we're allowed to post links to other sites, but there are some message board/websites that have people doing mushroom ID's. As for those... I'm not even gonna guess at them. I have heard that small dark brown guys are the hardest to ID.

Noticed you were from socal, and i found this on a site... pretty sure it's accurate but I think other species grow too...

Species in so-cal that contain psilocybin

Inocybe corydalina
Galeropsis sp.
Gymnopilus luteofolius
Panaeolopsis sp.
Panaeolus castaneifolius
Panaeolus cinctulus
Psilocybe "cyanofriscosa"
Psilocybe "meridianus"
Psilocybe subaeruginascens

Don't eat them, man. Seriously.

Go buy some spores and grow your own, or buy them. Though it would be great to have them just growing in your lawn, I wouldn't risk consuming them. Even if they do make you trip, they can be dangerous.

Kidney failure just isn't a fun way to go.

Hahaha, no worries. I'm not planning on eating them. I'm thinking if these were in fact psychedelic, it would just be cool to have, ya know.

I buy them anyway, and get a damn good deal on some bomb shrooms, so I don't really have a need for these anyway.

Just curious to see if they were, like I said.

The first mushrooms you posted are Panaeolina foenisecii. While some people claim that its a psychoactive species, I can assure you that its not the case. They only cause diarrhea.

The second mushroom you posted is too blurry to be sure, but it is probably Pluteus cervinus.

The most common active, by far, in southern california is Panaeolus cinctulus (aka Panaeolus subbalteatus). Google for subbedhunter420's guide to hunting Panaeolus subbalteatus, it is written by a southern california hunter.

One more comment, a good web site to get your mushrooms identified on is http://mushroomobserver.org. Its mostly full of scientists and intermediate lever mushroom hunters, I am one of the Psilocybe experts that posts there.

Once you upload your mushroom pictures all the other users can propose names for your mushroom and vote on what species it is.

Your pics are a bit blurry - Make sure you use a digital camera to take mushroom photos and ALWAYS ENABLE MACRO MODE. Macro mode is the little flower icon.

Wow we have a pro on this site=D<3 I was googling for any type of actives in SoCal and I came across this thread. Sorry if this is such an old thread that I just brought back to life but wow Alan Rockefeller wow

i know it's been said before, but bluelight isn't really the best place for mushroom identification. While Alan Rockefeller may be a member here, i'm pretty he frequents Shroomery and Mycotopia much more than this forum.

cue late responses to the OP not to consume his (by now completely decomposed) mushrooms :)
