What inventive ideas have u come up with to stop rippers besides the usual dog and big gun routine.

If your dog eats meat, its hair. if you eat meat, your urine and feces.
Moth balls seem to help against rabbits and deer to a certain extent. You need to put a sharp moat around the base of the main stem, like a ring of jagged soup can. This will help to prevent deer from trying to rip them up and eat the roots (the only part they want) Anti-slug granules. Slugs can fuck your life up if you arent careful.
Now I realize you are mostly concerned with human issues, but, I think all that animal info is useful.
When it comes to people, hang HUNDREDS of fishing hooks at different lengths at all entrances to your garden, possibly rid some sort of pully that will pull them all aside like a curtain so you can work safely.
Deer cameras, they are small boxes that you put a cheap digicam in and it will take pictures of anything moving around your garden. This would not prevent theft necessarily but, make it obvious that you have a camera. Possibly put a sign out of sight for regular people, but in perfect sight for rippers that says "smile you are on camera, this is a medical marijuana grow" This gives them the threat of having their face handed to the police and having their home raided and given MANY charges.
Once your plants are a good age, an age strong enough to handle this... Shove some lazer cut, very thin razorblades in the main stalk of your plants.
Find/fashion yourself a bear trap with weakened springs and NO sharp teeth. Something that will break an ankle easily. This way you will be able to go out to the garden, give them a talking to, possibly pull them out of the garden by their ear limping on a broken limb. Pull off the trap and release, you will never see them again.
get a motion sensor light like people put on the front of their houses/garages. If I was out ripping and a spotlight hit me, I wouldnt think, I would run like a motherfucker!
Lay used shotgun shells around the area, cheap stiletto pocket knives and possibly some biker paraphernalia.
If you want to see if your spot is being trafficked or being gone into, put a handful of the highest denomination change near the spot, near where you would suspect they enter. If The change stays put for several months, you are probably hidden.

The fishing hooks is a good one, my garden is in a courtyard of my house with buildings on all sides but i live in a rural town that is hella ghetto motherfuckers get crazy here and i didnt expect them to get so big this year so im nervous...

The best way guard against rippers is to locate your grow so nobody will stumble upon it. Finding remote locations in the woods that are open and get enough sun is the best way. Here's my grow as an example:

I know a guy that uses tripwires with old single shot shotguns that are up in the trees and shoot down where the wire is. But around the area there are tripwires with a speaker that sounds like someone's running their fingernails down a chalkboard. The shit is nuts!

If you want to find out whether people are visiting your spot before you plant there, I find the best way is to lay down coins on the ground. Most people will pick up coins unless it's pennies, so you'll know someone's been there.
