Gang violence erupts as rave craze returns

as far as people who purchase pills in Europe are concerned, MDMA is an ingredient in ecstasy since the pills which we call ecstasy rarely have MDMA as their sole ingredient.

If you asked anyone for MDMA in Europe you would be given a bag of MDMA crystals, not a pill. If you ask for an E you get a pill with MDMA as the primary ingredient (hopefully)

come to the us, where jaws drop if you can actually find crystal mdma, where each pressed pill is up to $20 individually and where people think that pure methbombs are "good strong pills", and mdma-only rolls are "weak".

The rave scene is deader than disco, at least over here in the States. I see no "craze" happening...

Certainly the purity of the drugs consumed in Ibiza seems to be remarkably consistent; the island has yet to report a single fatality from ecstasy or cocaine use.

Wow, really?? they mean never ever? I wouldn't have guessed that.

Yeah, E in the UK are getting madly cheap - last time i got them i paid £12 (approx $25) for 5 pills (pink kangaroos). And they were great! MDMA all the way!
Crystal MDMA is only £15-20 gram as well.
To be honest i can't understand how money is made at these prices, especially for pills. I mean when you take into account the risk involved and the penalty for class A's.
Anyway musn't grumble.!

The rave scene isn't dead, it's just not as prominent in the States as before. I've been to a couple of warehouse, or warehouse esque parties that matched some of my top parties when I lived in Europe.

Just gotta find the places, usually very underground and not advertised

legalise it?
the governmental solution would be to attempt to ban rave culture!

wow, this is really interesting for me, since i was just offered the opportunity to move to that area and run security for someone who owns some biz's there such as clubs. (friend of my gf's family)

now im really wondering why someone would want someone with such a checkered past and plenty of experience on both sides of the law (if you count security as being on the good side lol) to be their main man... i did more than enough dirt (ie dirtmcgirt) involving the nyc/nj club scene in the late 90's to early 2000's before i decided it wasnt worth it, and im sure i crossed paths with enough OC, how could i not growing up around here and being italian lol.

anyone from that area that knows the scene wanna PM me? i need to know if i should stock up on some kevlar lol

Rave is dead. Psy parties are most definitely not, though.

I agree, I was losing all respect for myself and my scene several years ago as a
"raver". Until I randomly found myself at my first psytrance festivel, and I haven't been back inside for a party since. If you want to experience the evolutionary and fantastic elements that were originally associated with the rave scene,

GO TO A PSY/GOA TRANCE PARTY. YES THEY HAPPEN NEAR YOU, FIND THEM, GET SCARED, 8( LOVE IT. 8o

If the drugs where legal the criminals would have nothing to do with it anymore. Who really give a shit if they are killing each other, its sad when innocent people get caught in the middle though.
Wrong, there would be a good chance of increased violence due to competition in an open market...

Too true... I get really clean and pure pills and I have to say some of the people I have gotten them for just can NOT handle a "true roll."

In Detroit they passed the "Crack-House" Law which basicly says that if you throw a party and drugs are present, the promoters can get nailed for running a drug house.

Psytrance parties ARE raves people!!!!

Think about it, at raves DJ's play:
-Trance
-Techno
-Hard Trance
-Hard Dance
-Hardstyle
-Hardcore
-Hard House
AND
-PSYTRANCE

Call it what you want but any party that has loud electronic dance music, bright flashy lights and lasers, and lots of people on drugs is a rave.

^^^psytrance parties only have psytrance playing all night...

...gets ridiculously boring after two hours

There has been a shit load of press reports recently about the illegal rave scene re-emerging in the uk, especially after some guys pulled off a big party(4000 people) last holiday weekend. Its mostly press stories, but the illegal party scene has been going off here for a while again as they close down the legal venues. It will only get bigger :)

oh man. hit the nail right on the head with that one.

this is one of the best articles I've read in a while in relation to raves and drugs.
it seems generally non-biased in most parts but where he lacks with information he makes up with neutral views.

Agreed, it seems this place is doing well on the trade of drugs and raves, it was only a matter of time before big crime figures moved in to try and 'secure' the turfas their own using their own methods to do so.

My personal opinion is that rave (specially house music) is having a re-birth in Australia. Even if drugs are legalized we will still have drug addicts and there will still be violence and crime to support those habbits, and i personally like the idea of drugs not being legal i like the whole underworld side of shit personally...

I disagree that raves arent coming back in the states. Two weeks ago I was in Japan, where psytrance is also big, then I came home, decided I wanted to hit a rave, so I started looking. Low and behold, I find oh I dont know like 20 or 30 parties happening right here in my own backyard...the midwest. And two very large ones, blitzen and kandieland iii, in other parts of the country. Yes, cleveland is still the midwest, but its very far from me. So, yes, the rave scene is coming back. With a vengeance!!

Leah Betts

Lol.

"Here chief, I've finished the piece about the resurgence of rave culture."
"Rave culture eh? That must contain some stuff about drugs?"
"Yeah, quite a lot about the smuggling and dealing of cocaine and ecstasy."
"Ecstasy? Did you mention Leah Betts?"
"Well, no, the Ibiza rave culture really has nothing to do wi.."
"For fuck's sake we're a newspaper. Put something in it about Leah Betts and bring it back to me in 10 minutes."
"...Er, Ok."

I found the part about the police chief lamenting the destruction of his town through drugs amusing. I think he'd find the removal of tourist income if drugs were deleted from the face of the earth more destructive.
