Menace 2 Society was directed by the Hughes brothers Albert & Allen Hughes.While as pointed out, the rest of the films on the list were directed by John Singleton.

Yeap I really like Higher Learning.I thought Michael Rapaport was great in it(His acting ,NOT his character ),and Adam Goldberg as his unstandably freaked out room mate.Interesting social commentary on racism and NOT belonging,among other things.
