game: a random dvd from your collection v1.0

Number 63 is Mr Romero's Land of the Dead.

Awesome movie with some truly disturbing scenes. Nobody does gore effects quite like Romero. And I don't even hate the CGI in it like I do with a lot of movies. While I respect the Bush bashing I don't think the social message is quite as in depth as with the rest of his films. But anyways, it's fucking fun to watch regardless and I'm glad someone finally gave him a budget worthy of his skill. Can't wait for the next one.

200px-KillingZoe.jpg

Killing Zoe, Roger Avary's directorial debut (I think, please correct me if I'm mistaken.) I first saw it as a teenager, and loved it for its gratuitous violence and Julie Delpy's perfect lil' breasts. I still love it since beneath the gangster sheen, it's a wonderfully satirical little art film in three parts, white, blue, and red. Jean-Hugues Anglade's performance as Eric is absolutely twisted and depraved, moreso now that I've seen him in his more "typical" nice-guy-leading-man roles (Marco in Nikita, for example.) The blue chapter, wherein they "live life" before doing the job (yeah, the excessive drug use bits) became more and more fascinating and entertaining the older I got, too.

"It will make you feel as though the world is in a bubble of glass, and you are rubbing up against it, like a bad windshield wiper."

Anyway, If you haven't seen it, do so. If you don't like it, I'll come to your house and make you realize that you actually do.

La numero prochaine, c'est vingt-huit.

Et il mange, et il mange, et il mange... err...

One of my favourite films of that era. And this is also where my fascination with Bette Davis began.

I remember watching this movie when I was around 12 or 13 and I really liked it, even at that young age. And this is when I still refused to watch anything unless it was in colour.

I particularly love the rivalry that went on behind the scenes between Davis and Crawford. The hate they had for each other only added to the on screen tension that's so obvious to the viewer.

TRIVIA:

During production, Bette Davis had a Coca-Cola machine installed on the set to anger Joan Crawford, whose late husband had been CEO of rival Pepsi-Cola and who herself was on the board of directors of that company.

During the kicking scene, Bette Davis kicked Joan Crawford in the head, and the resulting wound required stitches. In retaliation, Crawford put weights in her pockets so that when Davis had to drag Crawford's near-lifeless body, she strained her back.

A great old movie by Ralph Bakshi in the style of the old Lord of the Rings cartoons. Uses similar art and the rotoscoping (live action animation) will blow your "expanded" mind.

33 is Monty Python's The meaning of life

meaning_of_life_dvd.jpg

I love the Monty python boys... I use to watch the movies... and shows when i was a kid... With my dad... I love them because it's simple slap stick humor...
And so random

"Strange Man: [Very disorientating Camerawork. The "audience" can be heard yelling out where they think the fish is] I wonder where that fish has gone?
Transvestite: You did love it so, you treated it like a son.
Strange Man: And it went... where-ever I... did go.
[Bends perplexingly long arms]
Transvestite: Is it in the cupboard? Wouldn't you like to know! It is a most elusive fish.
[Strange Man twiddles some brass taps sown to the breasts of the Transvestite's corset]
Strange Man: That went where-ever I did go.
Transvestite: Oh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!
Strange Man: A fish, a fish, a fishy OOOOH!
Transvestite: Oh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!
Strange Man: That went wherever I... did go!
[a strange, half-elephant/half-man creature wanders up out of nowhere holding a drinks tray] "

its 35 minutes long and has some great animation and all the voice actors from the other films. saw it and picked it up for like 9 bucks. its a pretty bad ass movie, but i like the whole series so im biased. plus you get to see an animated vin diesel fight what can only be described as a giant murderous rave toy.

Had passed this one up numerous times at Blockbuster's 4 for $20.00 sale and finally grabbed it,because I had pretty much bought or seen everything else. It turned out to be one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. The last movie I bought that I had to tell everyone how great I thought it was and that they should give it a try was Frailty and that was a while ago. So this was a rare find, indeed. This movie fucking rocks!

-QUOTES
Dr. Bill Stiffle: Mrs. Johnson suspects that Troy might have been selling drugs to some other kids at school.
Dean Stiffle: Yeah?
Dr. Bill Stiffle: How do you feel about that?
Dean Stiffle: I feel that it must have been unfulfilling for him.
Dr. Bill Stiffle: That's very interesting. Why do you say that?
Dean Stiffle: Because he killed himself.

Crystal Falls: [after Crystal's friends have mocked Troy's death to humiliate Dean] Look, I just wanted to apologize for what happened back there.
Dean Stiffle: Why? Did you do it?
Crystal Falls: No, but my friends did.
Dean Stiffle: Some pretty nice friends you got there.
Crystal Falls: What are you saying? It's better to have no friends at all?
Dean Stiffle: Actually, yes.

Number 54 in my collection: From Russia With Love

I love James Bond, been a huge fan since I saw my first one (Goldeneye...I know, late commer to the genre). I have all of the 007 movies (well, the official ones anyway...oh, and not Casino Royale, that only came out the other day and I havent been to the shops yet). And yes, nerdishly, they are in chronological order in my DVD section.

Im actually not a big fan of the older 007 flicks, and Im not terribly fond of Sean Connery. In anything, really. But it's not a bad Bond flick, though to be honest I havent watched it in a while. I do remember being somewhat impressed with it when I first watched it though.

^ have you grasped how to spell :)

hey GreenEyedGirrrL - welcome to the film and television forum. you don't just choose a random dvd and post it - the idea is you find the dvd in your collection which corresponds to the number the previous poster gave you (in your case, 16). count however you like. post the movie and, if you like, tell us why you own it. make sense?

#16............the boondock saints. It's one of those morality /vengeance flicks. I'm a sucker for these types of movies that blend this theme with comedy.

Am I forgiven now?
