Behind the stone,
a name etched upon it as if with claws,
before it, the soil loose and rich,
green and malnourished, he rises,
the dark obscuring
his withering masque of vines,
his shadow falling across like a blanket,
failing to muffle his wail
or veil his red, moist hands.
Something died here by his will,
lady Luna above, his only witness.
He knew he would be brought down to this.
Ever underestimating his resistance
to succumbing
to his own ravenous desires.
Don't warm me
with your borrowed light,
he growls,
not tonight, madam,
not tonight.
Just dilate, only
dilate, my dear.
Ignore the rumbling
beneath.
Dismiss the breath
of exasperation
let loose
from the earth.
Its all dead and gone.
All the life's burnt out.
It's all,
It's all over now.
So cast away the stars
as I tear apart the drifting clouds
and open up wide like a cosmic scream,
all just to draw you down
and swallow you.
There's just no escaping this.
