kinda of all in the title. whoever has any experience with this please post. I take opiates like once a week as kind of a celebration/day off. been doing this for years. the only thing I have available is oxy. 5 days ago I took 50mg orally after taking gabapentin the night before and it felt like taking 20. about 5 days before this I took 30mg of hydro and I was nodding for 4 hours. this is the only variable I see. could gabapentins effects on metabolizing oxycodone into oxymorphone really be this severe? btw, I took 30mg and disappointed took my other 20 about 1.75 hrs later.

As far as I know gabapentin bears no effect on the metabolism of opioids. As a matter of fact gabapentin will most likely enhance the effect of the opioid. However the order in which you take both drugs can influence the effects. Gabapentin before an opioid will decrease the opioids absorption but gabapentin after the opioid will potentate it. So in your case it's always best to take the opioid first.

It definitely messes up the metabolism of hydrocodone, I'm not exactly sure how or if it applies to oxycodone too, but I would not be surprised to learn it messes up oxycodone's metabolism too.

I'll do more research on this later, you certainly would think that oxycodone, being so similar to hydrocodone, might have some similarities in metabolism in presence of gabapentin.

Oxy isn't a prodrug as it binds directly to opiates receptors. Yes the oxynorphone that's is procured adds to the experience, but oxycodone mainly causes the opiate effdcts felt.

Gabapentin should acctualy synergizes with opiates quite well.

IMO you over thought your high and missed the subtle high because you were too worried that gabapentin inhibited your oxy effects. If you truely feel that neurontin affects oxy in a negative way, then don't take gabapentin with your dose.
