Summary

Pfizer failed to release data about drug trials indicating Gabapentin is licensed for conditions it has no effect on and can actually be toxic for some.

Gabapentin is found, in trials unreleased by Pfizer to help only one in six to one in eight people it is prescribed for at best.

Pfizer have been fined $142million

I knew it was shit. Placebo fattening shit.

Outrageous.

I've noticed that it's done nothing for my pain, so today I went with 3 grams - Fuck all relief.
Gunna see my GP about changing to Pregabalin on whatever day she's in.

Think I'll print that page off and show it - Thankyou SHM <3

IMO they still can't find a better TRanq than Diazepam n probably never will but that won't stop em coming out with new shit every 5/10 years .

All those corporate Holidays n that ......

Naw, it isn't irrelevant, I just bolded that to try to avoid confusion---I initially thought this was some kind of new reveal.

I think you'll find this is new to (just about) everybody here. It was new to me.

Just like this is new to most people seeing it here now. But its getting old. People should read it.

When they say 'pain' though what do they mean? Actual physical pain and neuropathic pain are completely different, Gabapentin certainly works for the neuropathic kind but any traditional pain it will do nothing for. Gabapentin and Pregabalin are both fully licensed for neuropathic/neuralgia type pain and work very well, I've been on one or the other for years and can't miss a dose without huge increase in pain. I've heard of people being prescribed Gabapentin for tradtional pain conditions and of course it wouldn't work since it is not a painkiller, I take it that's what the article refers to.

I remember reading about Pfizer getting in serious trouble and sued for millions years ago for heavily promoting Gabapentin for a whole myriad of other conditions. They really are unscrupulous bastards particularly in the states, its all about selling as much as possible so they throw it at anything.

I've had high doses of Gabapentin with alcohol, and found it very pleasant. However, it's no pregabalin, which helped me massively with anxiety (and gaining five stone). I'd recommend anyone on Gabapentin to switch to pregabalin, but be very wary of the side-effects. I've now stopped pregabalin, and lost three stone, but it did amazing things for my anxiety-riddled brain, coupled with benzos. Shame on Pfizer. One of my doctors has a Lyrica (pregabalin) tin in his office. Pfizer pay for hotels and extravagant nights out for my mum, to push their diabetes products. Anyone who thinks this doesn't still happen needs a reality check. Big pharma are no better than your average dealer.
