Gabapentin is wicked

Almost two weeks ago my doctor cut me off of gabapentin after I had been on 4 1/2 800mg tabs for nearly 6 yrs. No tapering, nothing...cold turkey! I wonder how long this bull-shit will continue and why doctors insist that my wd's couldn't be that bad...I wish they could experience what I am! I am a recovering addict and guess what I did? I used opiates to have a frikin brake from the wd's. I'm so pissed. Any advice? Bravo doctor...:sus:
 
doctors can be dogs , just like the cops . alot of them dont give a fuck about their patients , like the one uve got . just stick it out , dont get back into an opiate habit either :/ sure there are plenty of alternatives that i dont kno about .
 
Why were you taking gabapentin?

I'd be surprised if you are still feeling w/d effects from it 2 weeks later. It seems more likely that you're feeling issues that preceded it like anxiety and other problems that likely contributing to becoming an addict in the first place.

How did you becoming a recovering addict? A lot of times after people quit, they don't fully address the issues that lead to their abuse - whether they be emotional, physical, whatever - and if you were taking a drug like gabapentin throughout that period, it would take a lot of those symptoms away leading you to believe they were no longer a problem.

Why did your doctor stop prescribing them immediately after such a long period? I haven't seen many doctors do this unless someone was abusing their prescriptions or there is something else you are leaving out here. I could of course be wrong but it's rare for doctors to abruptly stop medications they prescribe in high doses for more than half a decade arbitrarily. I have no idea if you abused your medication or anything so I'm certainly not accusing you of anything, I just suspect that your brief post doesn't tell the whole story.
 
I've been through gabapentin withdrawal myself, 600mg / day for a year and a half cold turkey.

It's a horrible experience, I'd liken it to a bad acid trip that lasts 4-6 weeks with physical malaise associated benzo withdrawal. You also run the risk of seizures now, your doctor is an idiot. Try to get back on Gabapentin and taper. Physicians will easily give out the script, especially in your case.
 
Taper !!!! I cannot believe a dr would allow u to go CT off of this! I take it for seizures and I have tapered my dose but never in a million thought about going off ct!
 
my doctor cut me off on gabapentin too, i had to overnight some from a pharmacy shit is to useful for social situations to give up
 
find a new doctor, gabapentin is one of the easiest scripts ever to get. like seriously. i cant talk about this much more, but you probably catch my drift

this isnt the best HR advice, but if you are really suffering, try drinking a minimal amount of alcohol (like 1-2 drinks)

or a low dose of a benzo (.5-1mg)

BUT BE WARY!!! do not take these every day, no no no no!! have a drink or take some xanax when you are really feeling ike shit, t

Alcohol is horrible idea for gaba withdrawal. (seizure)
 
why is drinking alcohol a bad idea if ur taking gabapentin? So I take gabapentin(love love it) and tramadol should I drink?
 
Sweet that's awesome But I also take tramadol. So can I have a few drinks with tramadol and gabapentin???
