After getting thru my oxy/hydro physical wds I was faced with the dual problem of making life interesting without opiates and straight out feening. My shrink wanted to put me on Zoloft but I didn’t want to have to take a non-recreational drug on a regular basis so I did what we all do – find something to self- medicate.

After some research I chose gabapentin. My 1st time I took 1200mg in 2 doses and it was trippy like weed which is not my thing. I felt nervous around people like they could see thru me and went thru the whole paranoia thing. At the same time I was tired. The only pleasure I found was locking myself in the bathroom and dancing to my ipod. OK so music was really nice.

Despite this dysphoric experience I decided to give it another go the following day. This time it was entirely different. I felt a little drunk and swaying which again is not my thing, but this time I was grooving the whole time. No more PAWS. Took it for the rest of the week. Fell in love with it. The only downside was I was up to 1800mgs by the end of the week. So if I kept going I couldn’t see it as a maintenance drug. I switched to Lyrica. That's another subject. But Gabapentin kills PAWS for the short term.

Yeah, I agree. I suffer from paws and I still chip once in a while. I went on a three day binge this past thursday-saturday. So I was having some mild withdrawals last night, so I took 600mg gabapentin and 5mg of baclofen and I slept alright and woke up feeling almost normal.

I believe lyrica and gabapentin are habit forming so tread carefully. I only take them once in a while.
