Opioids Gabapentin and its effect on opioids

In end stage doctors don’t take addiction/dependency into account …..as the patient won’t be around unfortunately. Soooo sorry to hear about your brother man. Truly

It might be best to have him as comfortable and functional as possible

The Oxycodone & Pregabalin are great….and actually potentiate each other ……a safe CNS stimulant could be beneficial…..Methylphenidate (Ritalin) 5 / 10mg tablets would be good to start

Ritalin is often added to opioids to enhance pain killing properties, reduce sedation and improve cognitive functioning and make patient more sociable, talkative, mood-boosting properties, happier outlook on life etc

Summer is here…..outside, natural sun, nature, fresh air, family and friends ……doctor shouldn’t give you any guff of low dose Ritalin
Thanks. Lyrica helped ME with pain, but maybe he thinks it decreases the effects of oxy. OR he fears he will be RX Lyrica INSTEAD of oxy, rather than in addition to. I know the pain was pretty bad before they took the tumor out of his spine and did radiation (still hurts but there's improvement). I THINK he fears having pain that goes untreated - The IRONY is that he now feels better than he has in months. The spinal tumor is gone, the local radiation shrank those bastard tumors, so it's weird for him to be told it's stage 4 and he's kind of screwed, BUT he feels so much better. And the oxys do give him some euphoria (thank GOD).
Anyhow, his fears of being foggy from the oxy (never mind the chemo, which he starts tomorrow) are real, and I get that. I really do.
I had not thought about a stimulant, and it would probably help him stay alert. Plus, potentiates the pain relieft?? Sounds good to me!

My brother wants nothing left unsaid, and there are many loose ends he wants tied before he exits the planet. Seems he really is looking at months rather than years. I'm sad of course, but like my brother, I don't want to leave things unsaid or any loose ends between us. I'll make these medication suggestions privately. I know there are collateral issues to taking opiates, but this is not the time for them.

Thanks again. Truly.
