I realize GHB can be dangerous because of dosage, but that isn't what I mean. I don't mean in terms of addiction either. I would like for people to discuss if they think G causes brain or bodily harm.

In normal doses, does G cause no brain damage while alcohol does? This is how i understand it from what i have read. I find it hard to believe because G is more euphoric, less hangover, just overall better than alcohol.

From the information available, it sounds like G is almost a miracle drug.

Yes, that is true. G is nontoxic and alcohol is toxic to many organs of the body (including the brain).

G is great. It isnt toxic, it actually burns fat cells, increases Growth Hormone levels (creates more muscle cells, burns fat), no hangover, better sex, better sleep. The problem comes in with dosing. WIth GHB and all its precursors, there isnt a big difference in doses between a good buzz and a trip to the hospital. Its just real easy to take too much. It isnt a drug where you just dump some in a water bottle, it must be properly weighed, the concentration must be known, MUST NOT BE MIXED WITH ALCOHOL. People dont treat it with respect and thats when you have problems.

I have head the withdrawals after long-term habitual use can be hell, but I have never had access to G or knew anyone that did so I have no first or even second hand experience....

--- G.

^^Same goes for the withdrawals from long term EtOH use. Therefore G seems to be equal in that aspect.

And, as NegroKitty said, G is non-toxic, whereas EtOH is quite toxic to many many organs.

second this!!! yesterday had my first ghb experience (gbl actually, 2ml) and i found it just amazing. warm rush almost instantly, euphoric almost mdma like, maybe even better, incredibly floaty feeling and i was... yeah, incredibly horny (does this makes sense haha 8) ). i'm definitely going to purchase a bottle with this magic liquid. seems a good deal of fun!!

I don't think its like valium and beer together. Its like a superior alcohol. Positive effects improved apon, and the negative effects of alcohol removed.

btw, I sampled ghb powder and gbl liquid this weekend and I found very little difference in effects.

no, i don't think it's a mix between valium and alcohol, you just have to try it to know it. it's great though.

btw, symmetrical daze, i think that's because it's just another way of taking ghb. it get's converted in the body into ghb right? maybe that's why, haha, probably is...:D . but how would people compare this to other related substances such as 1,4 bdo or such?? kinda curious as i really want to find out for myself but still want to hear peoples responses.

Blowmonkey, you are correct, GBL turns into GHB in the blood only requiring a hydroxide (OH-) molecule. Problem with this is it will lower blood pH causing metabolic acidosis (not anything severe in single doses I assume). Some say GHB feels much cleaner and I was pointing out that it feels almost idential, except I get a hot feeling when on gbl.

As for 1,4b., IMO this stuff is worse than alcohol. I know it eventually ends up as GHB but through many processes strenuous on the liver and kidneys. I have talked to people who had liver pains and sickness from doing 1,4b. People generally say it is "dirtier" than GBL and GHB.

Legal status of gbl olmartree, in the USA it is a list 1, meaning it is watched and somewhat controlled. It is used in industry and electronics so it remains legal. But, if you got some and didn't have an excuse for using it legit, they can raid your house, throw you in jail for long periods of time, etc. I think G is considered by law enforcement one of the worst and evil drugs, mainly because of the date rape stigma attached to it. So for us it is illegal.

in general i think although its not toxic for the body, unlike alcohol. ghb influences too many brain systems. gaba, dopamin, oxytocin and the ghb receptors. so it fucks with your brain a lot. it has certainly has some risks.

there is one negativ for some i can point out. ghb causes an release of dopamin when effects wear off. the socalled dopamin rebound. the intensity depends on how long you have stretched the ghb high. the longer the heavier.

although there is no known info on dopamin rebound being toxic. it can be irritating. for some people probably those with (unknown) anxiety or other disorders. its assumably worse. the dopamin rebound is not exactly like taking speed or coke.

i myself feel unbalanced and sweaty. overactivated and generaly weird. sometimes i have paranoid thoughts so pure. i find them beautiful before i discard them.

but after alcohol i also feel weird. and dumm.

my vote for ghb.

Back when i was dependent on benzo's, the so called dopamine rebound felt like a withdrawl, a hangover. Now that I am off benzos, this rebound doesnt bother me and I actually like it sometimes because it wakes me up early and I am full of energy. Sometimes I get nervous but not usually.

^^You are assuming unknown purity which is dangerous.. But if you are dosing known doses, then GHB does no chemical damage to the body, and light use is health promoting(deep sleep, growth hormone excretion).. GHB is metabolised into water and either CO2 or O2.. cant remember..

The reason why GHB is so chemically perfect is because it is found in your body in abundance.. GHB is used as a sort of storing molecule or power version of GABA..

Of course abuse is not healthy with any substance.. Though nontoxic, GHB abuse can cause down regulation and throw your biochemistry way off track.. THe difference is that since it is nontoxic, all the downregulation will be reversed, versus a toxic chem that down regulates be killing the cell so that it wont grow back after abuse has stopped..

Also, a GHB overdose would leave you much better off than an alcohol overdose.. EtOH OD's can leave you with liver cirrohsis, brain trauma, depressed breathing.. that is if you arent in a coma or dead first..

However, even a "severe" GHB over dose(10x required amount) is not as bad, and while it will put you unconsious, comas do not happen and breathing rate maintains at a life supporting level.. It takes a massive amount of GHB to cause deadly effects..

However, if GHB is combined with alcohol or opiates, it becomes a catalyst, and while still nontoxic on its own, it can press the effects of the other drugs easily into the lethal zone.

In the long run though, a GHB addict prolly has a much greater life expectantcy than an alcoholic.

Oh yeah.. Does anyone know if the withdrawl symptoms to GHB can be lethal like with alcohol, benzos, or barbs?? In this way GHB may be dangerous indirectly.. i.e. GHB abuse depletes your neurotransmitters/receptors so much that you cannot survive without the GHB in their place anymore.

I just did a bit of research...I cannot find any info that suggests that GHB withdrawal is particularily dangerous, however, there could be insufficient data on its withdrawal.

Regardless, I have heard that withdrawal from GHB is quite unpleasant, especially in regards to insomnia, which makes sense. Certainly it would be a poor idea to use G TOO regularly (more than once or twice a week) -- however I think the same of alcohol. So you may be more crazy than me. :)

GHB is quite easy on the body, however the G that most people have access to in Melbourne is 1,4B i've found that GHB/GBL is quite rare...
just a warning to anyone who thinks that melbourne G 'is' GHB its most likely 1,4 which is hard on the liver and can cause liver damage/ kidney stones. etc. can also cause jaundice. (bile from liver being deposited in the skin, i think, shown by a yellow tinge to the skin) but alcohol can also cause jaundice...
DfI;)
IMO G is safer than alcohol when used sensibly.

No, you practically can't. Well there has been ONE report of a person dying from G withdrawal, but from what I remember he took it for 7 years 24/7 (!) and actually had a preexisted heart problems. But DEA still does it scare tactic with messages like "GHB kills thousands of ravers each year blah blah". Shit, tobacco kills 400,000 each year and that's allright.
All that GHB does is put you into coma if you OD. That's it. The problem may arise if someone mixed alcohol with G. Just do your G alone and respect it - very little of this substance can make you either euphoric or lying on the floor in coma for 4 hours - so use it responsibly. And don't binge - been there, done that, not a good thing.

And it is a miracle drug if you respect it and treat it cautiously. It is completely non-toxic, I think of it as a good supplement with euphoric side-effects ;-)
But one needs to be cautious with it, 3 things are important. Never mix it with alcohol (or other depressants), know your euphoric dosage (1g/1ml too much can flip you out) and don't use it 24/7 or you might come across problems.

yes, while not lethal, the withdrawal sounds like it can be annoying as hell for longterm users.. insomnia, racing heartbeat, depression, stomach problems, sweating, anxiety, paranoia, delusions.. it lasts 3-7 days with probably the second day or two being the worst.. there shouldn't be any long-term, lasting effects from the withdrawal though. dopamine and gaba levels will return to normal. there might, however, be a lingering feeling that life would be better with the chemical. i've heard it can be gotten through fairly easily by substituting tranquilizers, alcohol, a mixture of codeine and dimenhydrinate, or if you're not in particularly rough shape herbal supplements like valerian or kava kava.. of course, you'll then have to wean yourself off those things eventually too as extended use of these substitutes really is detrimental to health (though pretty minor with the last two - just liver problems :) ).
