Fuck worried I might have HIV

I went to the hospital for an STD test this week, which was not the most pleasent of experiences (rods shoved down my penis 8o ), and have been diagnosed with Chlamydia. I took a one off dose which has cured it, but they want me to get an HIV test too.

I caught this is Thailand, where I slept with a number of girls (one hooker). I used condoms but twice they split. Basically I'm really worried I might have HIV. If I caught Chlamydia does this mean that I did exchange blood with some girl during intercourse? Or can it be contracted though fluids?

I'm not sure if I'm too scared to get the test done :\

HIV can be contracted through fluids/mucous membranes and so can Chlamydia.

Chlamydia is passed primarily during anal or vaginal sex. It is less likely to be transmitted through oral sex. It can be passed when the mucous membrane, the soft skin covering all the openings of the body, comes into contact with the mucous membrane secretions or semen of an infected person.

You should really get that HIV test, there are plenty of clinics that do the testing for free. Im sure you could find one in your area. If the person who gave you chlamydia also has HIV, they could have given that to you as well. Please go to the doctor and have the test.
 
even if any of your partners were HIV +ve your chance of having become infected are small, but you should get tested.

do not believe any "scare" posts about prostitutes, Thailand etc as the risks will be hugely exaggerated especially by those with supposed expertise in the field.
 
^^^The thing is, if I get tested and I find out I am infected I dunno what I'd do. I'd probably commit suicide. But if I don't get tested and I do have the virus I may have years of health left without ever knowing.
 
And if you test positive and get treatment you have decades of health left, while important research is continually being done to improve the treatments.
 
if you don't get tested and you are positive and you do have sex with others...

don't risk it. get tested. there's a world beyond being HIV positive. I have friends who are positive and are currently living healthy fulfilling lives.

commit suicide? I'm not gonna touch that one. be a man about it.

yes but as others have said you should get tested. what skydancer has said is also absolutely true. trust him.
 
Well, let me give you some advice from someone who's been there.

I had unprotected sex with a person, who's HIV status I did not know. I had good reason however to be quite concerned that he may have HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

I waited about 3 weeks, really 3 weeks is about the first time a HIV test can detected if your body has produced any antibodies to combat HIV. Plus, it took me 3 weeks to really get up and go.

So, I had the test.. pretty simple. Waiting in the waiting room sucked, but hey everyone else was there cause they A. Had AIDS, or B. Wanted to get tested. So, like I'm no differnt right. The test itself, took a few minuets, no biggie. I was done in about 20 minuets total. Got a slip of paper with a number and a return appointment in 2 weeks.

Now, this is the tough part. NOTHING, NOTHING can compare to the hell of those 2 weeks. You can't even understand what goes thur your mind in the 2 weeks you have to wait. Every night, I couldn't sleep. Durning the day, I could not think. It was pure hell, pure hell. I'm not going to kid you, you can't prepare yourself for this. Finnaly I got to the point where I said to myself. Well, look if I have AIDS I have AIDS. I still need to get up, take a shower, go to work, have dinner..etc. Yea, maybe I'll need to take some pills and watch my health.. but the sun will still rise the next morning.

So, I got thur it. 2 weeks later I go for the results. I didn't want to wait, I just wanted them to tell me yes or no. Luckly, I didn't have AIDS... But guess what, that's NOT the end of it. You see, sometimes some people don't devolpe those HIV antibody's right away. In other words, I wasn't out of the woods yet. A year later, I had another test done. 2 weeks of hell while I waited for the results. Again, negitive.

So what have I learned. Well first off, use a damn condom, no matter how much someone tells you they want to feel you without wearing one. 2nd, USE A CONDOM.

Besides that, well I can tell you, since that night it happend about 3 years ago.. I have not had sex with ANYONE since. Yea, it scared me that fucking bad.. no kidding. However, I'll simply state this.. no amount of sex was worth the weeks of hell I went thur durning the test.. NO AMOUNT!

I was always under the impression that HIV could fit through the pores in a condom anyways. Albeit, not easily, but it was still possible.
 
get tested, if you are infected then talk to your doctor and you can uncover some myths about AIDS.
There is medications available and as above posts have said you can still live a life with AIDS.
Just talk to your doctor.
 
Go and get tested. If not for your own safety and peace of mind, then for that of those around you. You either have it or you don't, the test does not change that, it only tells you yes or no.
I had to go through testing about 3 years ago when I was 13 because I got pricked with a used syringe. Though the waiting period sucks it is so much better than spending the rest of your life in limbo. Plus if you have unfortunately gotten the HIV virus, the earlier it is detected the earlier that you can start treatments to hinder the possible progression to AIDS.

Thanks for the posts everyone, esp Thelazer. I got diagnosed with Chlamdia and took some medication for it. This was on monday, and now on friday I have a rash come back far worse that I ever had it.

I phoned up and they said to leave it till after the weekend. This seems a long time for the antibiotics not to have worked, doesn't it?
 
I was inspired to get tested after my best male friend of 7 years now (who engaged in unprotected male/male sex on many occasions and worked as an escort) regrettably tested positive for HIV. I have been in monogamous relationships most of my adult life and used condoms more or less consistently, but when my friend was diagnosed, I started to get nervous- even though we led completely different lives.

The 5 days I had to wait to get my result back were the longest of my life, and I have never been so relieved when I was informed I was negative. I have been super vigilant about safe(r) sex since that time.

Please, do yourself and your partners a huge favor and get tested. I do agree that the chance is small that you were infected, but it's better to know.

Latex condoms are not permeable by the HIV virus, that is a total misconception but if a condom breaks or comes off and contact with body fluids is made... well, you get the idea.

As for my friend, he's getting treatment, quit doing meth and pills, and looks and feels totally normal. He's expected to be around to see his hetero lifemate (me) get married and have babies, and probably also run for office.

Its my understanding that testing for HIV is impossible, and what 'they' look for is a concomitant decrease in WBC which has lead to many being falsely diagnosed. Any comments??
 
I'm pretty convinced that this chlamydia treatment hasnt worked, I have a really bad rash and pain in my testes. Wtf? They said these antibiotcs would cure it in one dose.

my guess would be it is not chlamydia causing same but NEITHER is it HIV.

thelazer and mariposa fears are hugely exaggerated. i have been tested 3 times and never given it a moments thought whilst waiting and i have been having unprotected sex all my life.

i have refused several times to have sex with girls who insisted on condoms and the only time i have buckled was with 3 girls in Vietnam.

this is moronic --- do a google search for fucks sake. do not believe any site that has a vested interest in promoting the AIDS scare. my knowledge of AIDS has come from the IHT which has published a couple of unbiased articles over the last 10 years.

70% of the time one has caught HIV one will get flu like symptons within a couple of weeks. your chances of having caught same i guess to be less than 1 in 100 and reduced to 1 in 300 if you have not had any flu like symptons.

do a fucking google search.
