Looking at my bedroom window
I see flowers blooming
On the hoar-frosted glass
One night of the year
I see your flowers
I thought of you
All these months
You followed my warmth
Through miles and years
And came to sing me
Your frozen song
But you can’t stay with me
So you caress my fingertips
And go back to the ice plains
Where I too once came from
You’ve never seen flowers
For they never bloom in winter
But you always wanted to
Because we told you of their beauty
I heard it as a child
In your loving whisper
My favorite lullaby
The crackling of snow
I heard your voice
And southern flowers
Would cover my windows
Breathing life into your dreams of warmth
The most beautiful thing
You could never have
But you gave it to me
To make me smile
