From snorting H to IV

what I dont get about people saying "you shouldnt be doing heroin in the first place if your worried about getting hooked" you tell me one person who doesnt get hooked after shooting up heroin?? the addiction starts long before injecting, if you start out snorting.. injecting comes when you realize that you no longer get basically any effect from snorting, and you wanna save money and get more fucked up.. and then when you do shoot up, do you know how hard it is to snort again after shooting up? I been doing heroin for going on 5 years, ive never been able to snort bags now that I inject. I know 1 single person who didnt get hooked on heroin.. and he snorts, like twice a week and has been for a few years.. not me or anyone else I know, especially if they shoot, which most do, and if you find yourself addicted and you snort, its only gonna get worse if you shoot. heroin addiction is no joke, and it will grab ALMOST everyone.. there is a select few people who wont get addicted, dont ask me how the hell they dont get addicted but they dont. chances are, you are not one of those people.. watch out for heroin it is the nastiest addiction on the planet

The last time I touched heroin was via IV. It was my first time shooting up, and that was almost 2 years ago. I just had some strong willpower and said to myself that I'm not going to do this again. If it weren't for my sister's addiction to the stuff, I may of become the addict. I saw what she did and how she ruined the family at the time being. I would NEVER want to become that..

you tell me one person who doesnt get hooked after shooting up heroin??

Myself. The first time I shot up is just short of 2 years ago, with cocaine. I played around with cocaine at first, and within a few months got tired of it - bored. I am this way with all drugs, I like them at first but get bored within 10 uses. Cocaine I played with a bit longer. Heroin has been the only exception. I've been IVing heroin for a little over a year now, and not once has my tolerance risen by a 1/3, nor have I ever experienced any form of withdrawal. My longest run of daily usage is probably about 4 weeks. My pattern of usage is that I inject every day, once a day, only at night, for about a week to 3 weeks, than I just stop cold turkey.

You could refer to my desire to do H as an itch, and after scratching it away, I have no desire to keep scratching. I've posted about this quite a few times, but you can't exactly search "CreativeRandom's biography on injection".

the addiction starts long before injecting, if you start out snorting

Depends on how you look at it. Perhaps one could say I am addicted psychologically. But not enough to get physically addicted (and I am confident in saying I will not get physically addicted, as I've used many, many times and and it's been over a year), and not enough to have to use daily. I have no problem going a few months without using.

injecting comes when you realize that you no longer get basically any effect from snorting

No. For myself, injection was just the practical way to go. I never snorted heroin, and I only snorted cocaine around others. Injection was just the most logical approach.

you wanna save money and get more fucked up

I inject because I appreciate the convenience of injection compared to other methods of administration, as well as appreciating the dynamic differences that other methods do not satisfy. It has nothing to do with money or getting more fucked up. I want to enjoi my drug the way I feel like it, and I don't care to do it one way or another simply because it is cheaper. Similiar to how I only smoke half of a cigarette because it starts to burn.

heroin addiction is no joke, and it will grab ALMOST everyone

I am aware that heroin is not a toy, and aware of how much truth is in that statement.

there is a select few people who wont get addicted, dont ask me how the hell they dont get addicted but they dont

Myself, and you are more than welcome to ask me how.

chances are, you are not one of those people

Your right, but I am just one of those rare people, from what I have gathered. I do not know many people who use heroin (or inject anything), and this may be relevant to why I have avoided addiction.

watch out for heroin it is the nastiest addiction on the planet

Thanks, but I think the idea of spending more than $20 to get high is enough to keep me from getting addicted.

Again, I think this is pretty good info you should take into consideration:

If your say or are worried about moving up to IV usage because you'll get hooked, you shouldn't be doing heroin in the first place.

^^ just like I said, shot up heroin 2 years ago and haven't touched it since.

We should give ourselves a pat on our back. We shot the shit and never became addicted. I still think about how great it felt every once in awhile. ;)

But you don't use in a semi-regular or regular fashion. I may qualify as semi-regular fashion. There is no consistency to when I start my binges. But I do use, though it's been a while now.

Did you just shoot once? Do you still do H?

Yea, we all think about how great it is. Because it's true.

I can't let this thread go without name-checking Zinberg again (for about the 50th time since I started posting on BL =D ). He wrote a whole BOOK about controlled substance use, in particular regular non-dependent heroin use. The book is called "Drug, Set and Setting" - you can find a few chapters online at drugtext.org . Well worth a read IMO

I used to do it semi-regularly but then I stopped after I shot up. I started with smoking it, then snorting, and finally tried to IV before I quit. I'm sure I'll do it again, but I'm trying to keep myself away from it for now.

Yeah, I only shot it once. It's been about 18 months or so since then. I still take opiates often. I have been indulging in pod tea lately. Basically if I can get my hands on some opiates or opioids I will take it. I got myself out of the H scene after I stopped doing it. Even if I wanted some, I couldn't get any now.

CreativeRandom, I do not mean any offense when I say this to you but has it ever occurred to you that maybe your just havent totaly sliped yet? I have had several friends with your attitude, however they did not chose to use needles for various personal reasons. They were some of the strongest willed individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting but after enough years or chipping successfully they got a great hookup and sliped away.

Not being a heroin user myself you may disregard what I'm saying but I honestly do believe it is only a matter of time until everyone slips and gets addicted.

Yes. Of course some time some way some how in the future I may "slip" but it won't happen anytime soon. No one knows how one will be in the future, maybe I'll have some strong urge to turn homosexual and move to Mexico. Who knows.

They obviously did not have my attitude if they do not use needles. Those who've seen me around here for a while know I take a "Either shoot it or throw it away" stance.

Not true, and many who become addicted break free. Regardless, I think using the needle for over a year fairly regularly, without ever experiencing withdrawal or a tolerance increase, is a pretty good sign that I am a diamond in the rough.

That is the impression I get anyways. I don't know many users, but just from this board it seems that most people get hooked, and my use pattern is pretty rare.

I snorted like 2 lines and that same night slammed it and never sniffed/smoked it again, the feeling is incomparable and a true love affair once you fall into any routine which is way too easy to do...best advice? dont touch it, you can't use gas if you havnt started the car.....

I like many other BL'rs found myself scoring regularly and itching for the feeling once you inject to your vein, its a feeling you will never forget and end up always regretting....

best of luck

So true BLeeK. It is definately a feeling I will NEVER forget. It was so intense that I had to get myself out of the scene. It's just not worth it..

I think your situation is not as uncommon as many people may think. I've mentioned it before I believe; my personal experience is quite similar.

Well, given that every Bluelighter who has ever commented said that I am a one of a kind, I got this impression. I do not know many heroin users, I live out in the exurbs and near country. The only ones I've ever met were ones I knew (off of Bluelight, haha!) who helped me get it.

I have never heard you mention it before, nor have I ever heard of your personal experience. If you can send me links, tell me what to search for, or PM me, I would be more than happy to have a new light on my usage pattern.

It's been 74 days for me and I am not particularly glad it is behind me. Who cares? If you like using whatever, if you don't that's good too. I don't quite understand it when someone says something like "I haven't smoked in a week" and everyone proceeds to mindlessly say "That's good". What difference does it make?

Now, if your having some terrible addiction issue, that is a different problem, and it truly is good if you have quit and that was what you were trying to do.
