From personal experience, what is more intoxicating, Alcohol or heroin?

from my personal experience alcohol is so much more intoxicating. I've never got caught by parents cops teachers or any of the alike while doped out but a couple times have I gotten caught being dumb and obviously drunk.

i have no alcohol tollerance and at the time i had a little h (we call it dope around here) tollerance.

i was an alcoholic for awhile ,and i have iv'd all the mainstream opi's

i was able to drive under influe.of alcohol even well intoxicated

now when u iv heroin you dont go OH I WANT JUST A LIL BUZZ, u go for a nod

when i was high from good heroin i wasnt driving,i wasnt standing(if i was ,looked like i was about to topple over) ive been drunk around people who never knew unless they smelled it

but heroin hahaha its overwhelming ,TO ME anyway

in general alcohol is for sure.

the thing with heroin is that youre either fine or barely conscious, theres very little gray area.

and the only way to get to barely conscious is to do a large shot.

What would you say is more intoxicating? Which more greatly effects motor ability?

I showed this site to my health class, and they immediately disreguarded it because it says alcohol is more intoxicating than heroin.

I think anyone who has taken both alcohol and strong opioids in high doses can tell you that alcohol causes greater impairment. I think there are even some studies to this effect, maybe I will try to dig something up a little later. I would counter that opioids are more dangerous in terms of acute overdose and the risk of addiction though. I'm not implying one is better or safer than the other.

I'm not surprised by the reaction though. Heroin has a very bad reputation. Most people will dismiss any argument or comparison that doesn't fit their preconceived notions, especially when compared to something as socially acceptable as alcohol. The same will be true for PCP, methamphetamine or crack (which are somehow viewed as greatly different then other amphetamines or powdered cocaine). The propaganda has been entrenched in the non drug using population. Heroin, meth, crack and PCP are perceived as the most evil drugs.

Here is a link to The effects of Opioids on Psychomotor Performance, by James P Zacney at the University of Chicago. It is quite in depth, and it does have a section on Heroin (and pretty much every other commonly used opioid). Unfortunately, it's a crappy scan, so I cannot copy and paste some pertinent quotes. I think it does support the conclusion that opioids generally are less impairing than alcohol, especially in opioid dependent people. I only skimmed it though, so I could be way off base.

Alcohol is much more intoxicating, although even from talking it seems like I'm pretty obviously fucked up on dope, just because it seems like it takes effort to talk. As long as I don't go into nod mode I'm fine, but when I get there it can become a struggle to not nod out.

What do you mean by intoxicating? like it "fucks" you up more? Both alcohol and heroin can give you a mild buzz or get you falling out. It all depends on dose. I say heroin and alcohol are similair in thier potentials to mess you up.

i have to agree with the majority of people on this thread. alcohol is way more intoxicating. while that can be fun, i'd rather take a nod any day.

Alcohol forsure, I go to work, skool, and everywhere else high on dope or other opiates all day and if I did that with alcohol I wouldnt get anything done and would probably crash my car or do sum stupid shit and get caught cuz im a retarded, angry, and violent drunk that just wants to start trouble haha.

Alcohol by a longshot. Given, I don't IV, but the closest I have ever been to not able to drive on opiates is when I have trouble keeping my eyes open. Usually, I am able to go about my day while on opiates.

I should also say that I rarely drink, most of the time I get sick if I have more than one beer/shot/glass of wine. I would say that I am allergic in some way, but there have been a very limited number of occasions in my life where I have been able to drink heavily without getting sick.

Basic Drug Discussion is a forum for discussing drugs and their effects, the different qualities of the high, etc.

Drug Culture is the forum to talk about drug culture, pretty self explanatory. Ima move this over to BDD, becuz their forum fits this topic and ours dont.

Everybody has a different definition of "intoxicating", but I think most people would agree that, in high enough doses, alcohol is much more intoxicating in the sense that is destroys motor skills, reaction time, etc.

While this is more appropriate for BDD than DC, it serves little to no HR value as far as I can tell. Again, "intoxicating" is a very subjective term...but alcohol is probably the worst for that sort of thing when it comes to the bottom line.

I'm going to close this thread because it doesn't really have much HR value in the first place.
