Thanks for the replies, I think I have the problem solved.

if you are uncomfortable, then do not make yourself in his vicinity or part of his organization in any way. do not purchase from him. do not hang with him when he deals or carries. do not talk about it with him.

Always keep in mind the phrase "plausible deniability". It's perfectly possible to hang around somebody who routinely engages in an illegal activity, providing you simply keep your mouth shut and your eyes averted. The police can't waste time and resources arresting every friend a dealer has - it's not feasible. Nor would it be legal.
"Did you know he was dealing drugs?"
"No sir I did not."
"Didn't you at least suspect?"
"It crossed my mind, but I figured it was his own business."

Every single one of my friends has dealt drug at one time or another. You've got to make the choice whether or not you want this around you. Personally, I could care less if my friends sell drugs, but if that is something that YOU dont want to be associated with, then stop hanging around with him.

whats his pager number, i could use a new hook up.
kidding...look, if it makes u so uncomfortable, u should probably just tell him that, and make it clear that if anyhting ever happens (bust wise), he shouldnt look to you for any help.

i have many friends that deal but i just stay away when they are doing business i wont get in the car with them if they are going to meet someone so hang out when hes not dealing...if u feel uncomfortable with his new venture talk about it but dont stop being friends regardless of the out come just do what i do and stay away from his dealings

Normally, I choose to simply ignore any business transactions that take place while I'm around, but this being more serious (legality) selling eightballs, should I say that this makes me uncomfortable or simply try to avoid him during his phase? I'm hoping that this will be a short time thing, as he is a good friend and I enjoy his company.
Some of my friends still deal drugs. They are all well aware that I don't agree with what they do. But they're my friends. Thus they respect my feelings and keep their stuff away from me.
If he's your friend, why would you be afraid to let your feelings known? And why would you just avoid him? If you feel the need to really be that removed from it, no, it's not wrong to avoid the person, but let them know why.
I also wouldn't suspect that this is just a "phase". Your friend started small and is moving up. An addiction to easy money is usually worse than a drug addiction. It will probably progress until he either gets busted or his hook ups dry up or get busted.
