My friend has a vial of 10mg etorphine (his dad is a vet and he has somehow precured this). I've told him to stay the fuck away from it from what I have read. But, he seems adamant that he needs to try it. I've warned him that even a drop of something that strong will kill him but he is still keeping hold if it. I've told him that IV'ing something like this is comparable to doing a bungie jump before you are attatched to a rope, and that even other less instant administration methods hold a similar risk, unless an anti-dote is handy.

So. I presume that most responsible people here will advise throwing away and forgetting about an opiate so strong it will knock out an elephant in mg dosages, but if he were to go ahead and use this what would be the safest way to go about it, considering he has a vial full of of 20ml of (unknown) liquid that contains (a definate) 10mg of etorphine.

Don't fucking use it at all, don't even attempt to throw it out.

Take it to a pharmacy, vet or hospital and have them deal with it if you want to dispose it.

Don't ingest it.
I can see someone keeping it as a "keepsake" or for their drug collection but to be frank, etorphine is of such power that the normal opioid antidotes will have no effect. Unless your friend has a vial of the special antidote for etorphine there is literally no possible way for him to use it with guaranteed safely, because it was designed for use on wild animals that weigh half a ton and the paramedics won't be able to save him in time if something goes downhill. Don't ingest it and put any thought of doing so out of your mind. Seal the fucking thing in a cube of Plexiglas and be done with it. It'll make a great table ornament.

Don't ingest this! Don't even consider it! Don't!

If you really, really, still want to ingest it, measure very accurately. Your life isn't worth betting on "eyeballing" or using uncalibrated kitchen measurement appliances. Dilute the stuff well, measure it accurately, take it orally, and take it only once ever in your whole life. No redosing, no repeating, no giving the vial away. Spend several hundred bucks on good lab-grade measuring tools and learn how to use them right.

Do not smoke this. Do not IV it. Do not snort it, do not handle it without gloves, face protection, and (basically) a body suit, and oh, don't ingest it. Stop thinking about it and play outside.

Don't dispose of it in a fire, and don't dispose of it in municipal waste streams (the garbage, pour it down a sink or in someone's yard). This needs to be professionally destroyed by some chemical means.

Finally, don't ingest this.

Listen to sekio. There is no margin of safety with this stuff.

Get it to the people who can dispose of it correctly. I don't even recommend flushing it.

It is like liquid death, maybe a fun death for a few moments, but a definite one. Apparently, there is a specific opioid-antagonist used to treat overdose of etorphine that always is packaged with it. I CAN tell you not to take it, DON'T even think about it, but I can't tell you what to do with it. It seems like it would be dangerous to even have as a trophy due to the extreme potency, and as mentioned above I wouldn't try to dispose of it on your own. Would seem like a waste to have it taken away, but that really is the only safe option.
