My friend just broke my bowl while trying to stash it. It was a 65 dollar piece and i just don't know if i should just replace it, make him pay for it, or just wait and hope that he may try and surprise me with a new bowl. Input please.

Whose weed were you smoking when he broke it? If he broke your bowl while smoking your weed, I'd tell him that you would like him to buy you a new bowl. I don't think you have any right to demand it of him though. If he doesn't want to pay, you either gotta sue him or kick his ass; and it doesn't seem like either of those are worth it now does it?

If he brought his own weed over to smoke you out, and he broke your bowl, I might tell him "you owe me" but not specify what exactly he owes you. I would be happy if he kept coming by and smoking me out regularly to make up for it or something, even if he only ends up smoking $20 of weed with you over the coming months. It was an accident after all, and he was trying to get you high while he broke it, so I couldn't hold it against him too much in that case.

it was my stuff and he is my roommate. he likes to smoke, but he usually never buys and he doesn't have a piece of his own so i was smoking him out tonight. everything was all good, but then he got word that his girlfriend and her dad was possibly coming over so he rushed to get everything put away.

i wouldnt say anything. if he's a real good friend then he'll replace it. give him some time. he might surprise you and buy you a new piece in a few weeks

yeah, i know i would if i ever broke a friends bowl but who knows. i guess i can only hope for the best. imo, it was a one of a kind piece. i have had it for 3 years and have never seen another one like it besides my buddies. other than his, which is also now broken, i haven't ever come across anything close to it.

then he should definetly replace it
obviously he was high and our actions can be a little unpredictable and clumsy when high, but it was important to you AND you were smoking him out

if he doesn't make any advances to repay you then you can write him off as a friend

Ive had this happen and done it on accident myself. The unwritten code is you drop it you but it just like in a head shop. I have immediately replaced the ones Ive broke and Ive had buddies that were broke as fuck and couldnt return the favor so promptly. As long as they tell you on this date and hold to their words you cant be mad. Shit happens. BTW a buddy just had his 600 dollar roor dropped by his friends jit g/f and is refusing to pay, so maybe you wont feel as pissed lol ;).

it was the black one on the bottom.. not a good pic of it at all but it is just like the brown one on top but a little smaller.

haha i paid a little less. i am sure i overpaid but thats not what matters to me. if it was just about money then i would just ask him for cash but that thing has led to a lot of epic nights. i think i will go about finding a blower to make something similar. probably will just make the upgrade to a bong. infact, that sounds like a great idea.

yeah i think i may have a chance talking to the guys in my hometown but i am away for college so i doubt any of the places around here will be willing to. i'm still going to try though.

Where I come from if you break a piece, you owe the owner however much money he/she paid for it.. It doesn't matter who's bud was getting smoked at the time lol.

I've never felt obligated to pay for accidents, nor have I seen people get asked by pay for their accidents. Unless you hit something with your vehicle. "You break it, you buy it" is bullshit. You invite me into your house or place of business, and let me touch your things, then any accident becomes your liability. Insure your goods if you have a problem with that.

if he doesn't give me cash or buy me a new bowl thats fine. i know i just can't expect someone to drop money on it but i do hope he puts forth some initiative.

Eh, I'm just saying where I live with almost anyone I know its just assumed that if you break a piece then you owe that person that money.

If it wasn't like that, then people that owned 600 dollar RooRs wouldn't be so willing to let other people smoke their bong.. We look at it like this: The bong owner is treating us to his piece, so we assume responsibility for anything that happens to it while in our control.

This is precisely why I only smoke out of 1 piece and own over 10.
All my bongs and bubblers are in storage.
