It's FRIDAY THE 13TH, but let's examine this number that worries so many. 13 creates stable structures that are capable of withstanding pressure (such as the molecular dome lattice of an egg). The Kabbalah Tree of Life has 13 segments that connect you from Earth to God; 13 lunar cylces in the year; 52 weeks in the year (13 x 4 = 52); the Fibonacci sequence contains the number 13; the sacred geometry Flower of Life contains 13 overlapping circles.

The date Friday the 13th is taboo because the Knights Templar were arrested and condemned by the seneschals of Philippe IV, King of France, in a "pre-dawn raid" on Friday, October 13th, 1307. The number 13 has been shunned for centuries. But it was sacred long before this happened.

13 is the number of POWER, so no wonder people are made to fear it. May this be a day of personal empowerment for everyone!

13 signs of the Zodiac, the missing one being 'Ophiuchus', the 'serpent bearer'.

Fridays are totally unlucky days in western culture. That's when most of the drunk driving crashes and arrests happen in our society. I don't believe in luck, but there's something odd about Friday that's tangible and dangerous. It contains the foreboding menace of the full moon, only less impactful because it happens every week. The wild ones go out and feed their demons, and the innocent stand by and watch.

As far as 13 goes, I like prime numbers. They're neat. Beyond that it's just superstition relating to all sorts of Western traditions. Some say the unlucky number comes from the betrayal during the Last Supper, others say it has to do with the death of various influential men in England or Scandinavia. Take your pick. Some traditions say 13 is perfect, others say it's cursed, and others don't care too much about it at all. I don't think all 13's were created equal though, so who knows.

I believe that much of the 13 Crystal Skulls has to with this year, 2012s 13 moon year, and the possibility of switching to a 13 month calendar. We need to learn to work with and respect time, not race against it.

There are parallels amongst what we have been lead to believe as "superstition", superstition is a product of man and religion. The numbers and geometry of the universe are what constitutes time and constrictive form. This is sacred geometry, WE are sacred geometry, what we think and feel is the abstract which is generated by this structure limited to our material universe. Observing and becoming more aware of this in daily life, nature and each other, thoughtful creative progression is the result of such an understanding allowing for less fear, and more of an understanding of whom ever and what ever else makes up ones surrounds.

Using the Farmers' Almanac definition of blue moon (meaning the third full moon in a season of four full moons), blue moons occur

November 21, 2010
August 21, 2013
May 21, 2016

Note that the months of July, August, and September in 2012 contain four full moons, and August 2012 has two full moons. However, the period from the summer solstice to the autumn equinox in 2012 contains only three full moons, as the September 2012 full moon comes after the equinox. Similarly, the December full moon in 2012 comes after the solstice. Thus calendar 2012 has 13 full moons including two in August, yet it contains no blue moon.

If you go looking for the significance of the number 13, you'll find it everywhere. That says a lot about the peculiar nuances of our brains' pattern recognition faculties, but it says very little about the number 13.

This is the case with every number, and the implications of that are the science and shape of life.
