Freezing shrooms

Hi everyone,

Will freezing shrooms ruin the potency? they are inside a dealy bag inside a vacuum sealed bag so water tight and airtight.

Don't freeze them - ensure they're completely dry and store them in an airtight container in a cool dark place.
 
I have grown my own a way back. Dried them, then chopped them up and ground them.
They're now in the freezer in aluminium packs of 1gram, for my convenience ;).

I haven't eaten them in a while but 3months after putting them in the freezer they were still as potent as in the beginning.

I wouldn't put fresh ones in the freezer though, fridge will do fine if you don't want to keep them longer than 1month or so .
 
its not the freezing thats the problem but defrosting them causes the whole thing to turn to mush.
drying is a better option. it also simplifies dosing...
for a few days the fridge is fune but otherwise dry them
 
Yeah, a mate of mine picked millions one year down in Dorset & stored them in a variety of ways, some frozen from fresh. The fresh-frozen ones were just a disgusting mess when he defrosted them, but dried shrooms had fared far better, lost no potency & probably still work, if he has any left.
 
You need to dry them before you freeze them. Once they're dried and frozen they'll last for years - one batch I froze for 5 years were as potent as the day I froze them.
 
Ive allways dry cured mine, Still got some in paper wraps from 2009 upstairs, and various sized wraps from every year since, as i pick libs every season and they never all get used as i trip alone nowadays ( Not realy out of choice, but most my friends have kids now, and other responsabilities ) that they dont want to or dar'nt stray from, or just dar'nt trip anymore ! but thats there loss, i love my trips so ill carry on picking and drying to store mine.

And yes like others have said freezing fresh ones just messes them up when they defrost, they just melt and go sloppy, not nice at all, Id just lay em out on sheets of paper, somwhere dark and dry, i usually put the sheets of paper in the space under my bed, not to hide em, just so they are out of the way, wont get stood on or anything spilt on them etc, and i usually just keep an eye on them, i give em anywhere from a week or 2 before collecting them bk up and putting them in paper wraps Same with fly agaricks, and write the numbeer and date on them so i know whats there and when from etc ..
