Cocaine freebase to HCL

Outlined in a thread by Le Junk he stated mixing muratic acid with everclear to produce a 2:1 ratio. Can you use 90% isophro alcohol instead of everclear?

I switched some freebase to HCL but there is a strong burn.

I remember Le junk saying that you can wrinse the coke with acetone and let the acetone evaporate to get rid of the excess muratic acid
can this be done with 91% iso alcohol because i have no acetone.

I would think IPA in place of ethanol for this would be fine. I can't imagine HCL would dissolve in one and the other. I don't see why water wouldn't work as well but I guess it might take longer to get rid of it in the end.

Cocaine HCL is insoluble in acetone but soluble in IPA so I don't think this would work. Not even sure what you mean by "and then evaporate". Hydrogen chloride is a gas though so just drying out the crystals will get rid of excess acid I believe.

Yeah don't really get that as you would just leave the residual hcl behind again when you could filter and discard instead. Though I guess just bumping the evaporation rate up with acetone would help.

I have a question converting freebas to hcl...
If you dissolve some freebase in ethanol and then add a drop of HCL acid, then evaporate the alcohol

I think if you dissolve it in something non-polar like chloroform, IPA may work and use the step you talk about you are on the right track. You'll want to keep adding the acid dropwise and monitor the pH. As it converts you'll see the crystals start to fall out of solution (this is how you know it's turning to the HCl salt) and lay on the bottom, when the crystals stop forming or slow down you'll want to watch the pH closely as it will change rapidly once all of the cocaine si converted. The reaction should start slowing down as you round a pH of about 6; when you reach pH 5.5 or so you'll want to stop, though you can decide based upon the amount of crystals forming--also, it never hurts to go slowly. Now you can filter the crystals and set up a spot to dry. After the crystals have had a good 24 hours or so to dry (just to be safe) you can go ahead and do the acetone wash, you can do this is a similar or the same filter setup you used to filter the crystals--after it is washed and the filter paper is replaced. From here you just leave it out to dry and you should be alright.
Personally I have never done this with cocaine, but I've done plenty of labwork in organic chemistry that were the exact same process which is isolation and conversion of a freebase to salts. It's mostly the same for other salts like a sulfate salt, the pH and the numbers are a bit different and you obviously use sulfuric acid, but the steps are the same.

you need acetone or ether to wash off the hcl acid, it won't evaporate
