Found a new needle type, vanishpoint.

When I was in Vegas the pharmacy gave me those. I dont like them. While IV use is kosher, IM use can have a problem. If injecting into a hard muscle or you missed something in filtering, the tube which absorbs the needle opens by exceeding a certain pressure on the ball located on the bootom of the plunger. if this opens, your solutions is trapped in a non-water tight container. These were developed to keep "street" needles from harming children or un accustomed individual on public grounds...... While for 3rd party safety they are great, I won't get them again...../

We think this thread is fantastic and filled with useful information regarding IV use and contains a lot of HR too. We think it would be better suited for OD and as such are moving it over there. :)

Not to be a debbie downer, but anyone ever get the occasional defective rig? I have. Id hate to get a defective one of these fuckers and lose an eye or sum shit

I have had these years ago for prefilled heparin injections , that was in France , though and I don't think it would work for an iv needle

I've had defective regular pins. plunger was broke (rubber came off the column part of the plunger before use), various leaking rigs that wouldn't draw up cuz of a hole, and with the 0.5cc rigs I've had the tip come off in my arm (it has a somewhat of a detachable tip and it was really loose, brand new too).
I could imagine one of these vanishpoints being defective and retracting the needle before all the dope got pushed out and the user losing some dope.
imo, less parts=less potential problems.

I'm not an IV user, so I'm not exactly an expert on this, but with what scagnattie said in his original post about how it violently rips out of the vein, someone stated that you could push down just most of the way then pull out slowly, the depress it all the way...what happens when you get that person that's trying their damnedest to get as much out of the syringe as possible without making it retract, then they get a little to close and (correct me if I'm wrong on this), it gets to that point that it pushes faster and seals up, then BAM, and it rips out.

Like I said, I've never been an IV drug user, but judging on how it feels when they take an IV out of me at the hospital, wouldn't that hurt like a mother fucker, and like scag said, do a lot of damage to one's veins? I mean, how many times does that little accident have to happen before it makes that site unusable?

How many accidental pokes happen around your parts?

You guys make it sound like an epidemic. All these innocent children accidentally sticking themselves on some careless fuck's works.

I would never use one of these needles to shoot up. Just think of the spray.

I've seen tuberculin syringes like this. They use them in Tarrant County Jail for the TB tests if I remember correctly. One time the needle cut me as it retracted because of how the nurse had the syringe angled.

FUCK. THAT.

Look at the speed and force that thing lurches back with! The administrators arm shakes as it happens!

No way would that be anywhere near one of my veins.

Seems like it is mainly designed for subcut use.

I've used these, I really don't think it's a big deal. maybe the ones I had were different, but again, they won't retract until you push down on the plunger well past the point at which it stops advancing. I get the whole not wanting to waste anything, but unless you flush it after injecting which of course you shouldn't do if you like your veins, it will always have at least a tiny amount still trapped in the needle itself, it's not going to be any noticeably more with these retractables.

IM shots shouldn't be a problem either, strictly speaking you don't 'have' to have the needle retract at all. I used a few of these way back and I never really felt like it was easy to accidentally set the spring off.

Part of the problem is the video only shows them having the needle retract while still in the body, you don't have to do that at all

Jktm I'm surprised that it hurts you when they take an IV out, I've never found hospital IV's or shots I've done myself to ever hurt when taking 'out'. For me the most painful aspect of a shot is large volumes (anything above .5ml) given SC, hurts like hell most of the time. I find IV to be the least painful of all because if you hit right it's not adding a volume of pressure under your skin.

Actually, if they sold clean needles at all pharmacies, some people would be too embarrassed, paranoid or just plain stupid to go in and buy them. I have to drive 15 miles into the next county where I can walk into any walgreens and buy 3 packs without any problem, but I've still come across a few people who won't buy thier own. I usually just give them some.

Oh, it doesn't really hurt me, it stings a little though...I guess really I'm thinking of when I give blood that it stings a lot...gotta love those 16g needles collapsing your veins...

I'm just thinking of how much stronger that little sting would be when the needle comes rushing out of your vein at 50mph...

retractable needles have been around for years now. i've used them a couple of times (can't remember the brand) and they're terrible imo. the 31g tips were flimsy and for the needle to retract took quite some pressure - there was no way to safely do it whilst still in the vein without the possible consequence of ripping your vein apart, piercing right through it.

i've never found a needle that compares to what Terumo make.

Yeah you're not wrong, I'm not negative towards the spring loaded ones but the Terumo insulin syringes easily beat them from the perspective of the user rather than community safety.

Can't speak for the 31g's springloaded or not, I've never been able to get that small a needle to hit right.

^i know people like using as small as guage as possible but i find 31g a pain in the arse to pierce the skin and register properly for the most part and have never had problemswith Terumo's 27g 1cc Insuling sharps so have always used them. people complain that 27g is too big but i've been shooting around 8 years now and am yet to lose a vein nor do i have any trackmarks. apart from the tracks i get from using a spot a little too much; simple care using the proper ointments and sanitation always has the skin recover to normal with no traces of IV use.

they're a great concept for HR these retractable, for IM or SC shots mainly and especially in places like hospitals, detention centres, etc, but at the moment they need a little more work before i'd consider using them regularly for IV use. if you have no problems with them and can deal with losing a few units of your shot then pushing it down to retract over a sink or toilet bowl instead of ripping your arm apart more power to them.

I HATE these! I got some for the first time in vegas. At the time i was using them to disolve pills as a sterile container. If you try to squeeze the plunger and too much force is exerted then the area in the plunger (where the spring loaded needle would retract into) pops and liquid goes all into the plunger. The rig is then totally shot to (Insert explative here). The only positive thing, and reason I keep a few are for OD/Narcan scenerios where most likely the person giving the round to the OD'er is probably messed up themselves and you wouldn't want to get pricked...

I have used these needles as last resort to shoot heroin, I managed to get all the heroin in my vein, without making the needle point vanish, but boy one time I wwas rinsing it during a coke binge, and accidently vanished it, I was heated
